Now I'm just hoping that Great Britain can hold off Latvia to maintain our third to bottom position

The women have done really, really well. I'm so proud of them.
...And of the few men who have contributed to the medal count.

   

I am proud of all of Team Canada's athlete's..........well, maybe not the mens hockey team, but at least they put SOME effort in......





And the women have just been dominating these Olympics!!!

   

Not to take anything away from the others but holy fuck....what do they feed em in Winterpeg.

   

Just watched a piece on the rink in Winnipeg that they started out on...you would be pretty tough if ya trained outdoors in Winnipeg in winter

   

Another silver in the Men's 5000 team relay in speed skating, a bronze in the Men's 500, and gold to our Men's Curling team from Newfoundland! We now stand at 24 medals!

   

Congrat to the athletes, and in particular the women.

Only in Canada could this become a gender issue in the media.

   

Holy crap, didn't think Canada would come too close to its personal goal of 25 medals. Especially after such a rough start....

   

So are we in the running at all for any other medals or is that our total now? I like that we did so well though, very happy with everyones, well mostly everyones, performance Go Canada Go!

   

Is that our best Medal turn out ever? Summer or Winter?

   

Kinda ironic that our Mens Hockey Team would of been 25

   

let's take a look at the top 5 that were good for something:
the countryies are organized by the number of gold medals.
* - means +1, +2 are the number of medals taken in combined sports (figure skating dance and pair)
seems they are all good for everything in Germany! total medals first, gold medals first, men and women keep parity
the US and Australian men keep the leadership and Canadian and Russian women struggle for the countries... And both flushed the men hockey tournament down the tiolet!

   

All of our Canadian athletes should be honoured an proud in what they have achieved in the 2006 Turin Olympics, including our Men's Hockey Team! Sure hockey is our game, the guys won the gold in Salt Lake but not Europe. I think this has a lot to do with jet lag and the distance travelled. We had roughly about 11 fourth place finishes and in my eyes, these athletes are Olympic Champions. I am very proud of all of them.
