Ed Mirvish, local hero dies
If you have ever been to Toronto you will know who Honest Ed is. He was generous and philanthropic, egnimatic and full of energy. His shops and restaurants were always a treat to visit.
i can remember seeing a few shows like The Lion King and Mamma Mia at his theatre "The Princess of Wales" (the Prince of Wales Theatre was renamed for Princess Dianna after her death) and then dining at his restaurants. When i was little, for my birthday, i went to Ed's Warehouse, it was an amazing place where you felt like you were part of something special and the roast beef was great.
Toronto was blessed to have him and he will be missed.
He was a person who helped a lot of people start life off in Toronto with cheap good, cheap food and other things at a reasonable price.
He brought musicals and theatre to King Street and other areas of the city. His son is carring on what he started.
Toronto should properly honor what he has done for all he has done. Free turkeys and other food around Xmas time, help to other organizations for those less fortunate.
A gentlemen! Work hard, treat people right, and he did just that.
City Mourns the Loss of Local Hero
He was a great personality and good for the theatre district of Toronto. Certainly from one of the greatest generations and will be missed by many.
Boo fucking Hoo brake out the kleenex - He closed his resturants years ago because they were going to unionize and he didnt want to pay. He made millions selling dollarstore crap to the poor of Toronto and gave back as a good way to make the Taxman happy
B-i-t-e M-e I used spell check
Nope I don't pay my taxes and I have no use for Unions only good for getting high wages for for unskilled workers doing crappy jobs. Sorry but I shouldn't get paid $25phr to install lugnuts on a minivan and they wonder why we keep losing manufacturing jobs to the third world and China. Goods made here are to costly because Unions drive the wages up and then the price of goods go up and then opps we need a rasie to cover the cost of the new goods what a load of shit
well just imagine what the working class would suffer if it wasnt for the Unions... you would be working 80 hr weeks for low wages and no rights. if you dont understand that read the history of unionism in Canada... non union workers benefit every day from what unions have brought into this country... and as for $25 hr jobs .. well they are needed to pay for the over priced goods that companies bring into the country through the back door that were made is sweat shops in third world countries.. while the rich in canada get richer ... stop whining ...
and as for Ed Mirvish... God rest his soul he was a GREAT CANADIAN..
