well if your not allready aware , there is a leadership race taking place to replace John Tory who left after not being able to find a seat .
as of now 4 candidates are in the running , all are current mpp's and have a seat ( avoiding the problem faced by John Tory.

- Tim Hudak , mpp Niagara West Glanbrook ( former cabinet minister )

- Frank Klees , mpp Newmarket Aurora ( former cabinet , ran for leadership 04 )

- Christine Elliott , mpp Whitby Oshawa ( wife of Jim Flaherty )

- Randy Hillier , mpp Lanark Frontenac Lennox Addington ( rural activist )

i've included there websites so you can find out a bit more about them .

The ontario pc's are currently the official opposition but have historically governed ontario the most since the 1950's , since then the liberals have only held power from 1985 till 1990 and of course since 2003 till now , plus was a fluke ndp government from 1990 till 1995 . so there is a realistic chance that the new leader might eventually become premier at some point . and generally in ontario provincial governments win in big waves like harris did in 95 and mcguinty in 03 then gradually lose seats and power , no one holds the provincial legislature for ever .
