wasaga beach

whats everyone on here think of wasaga beach , it has been changing in recent years and is being redeveloped and will soon even have a full size wal mart.
myself i like it but feel there could be more things to do there and its not yet reached its full potential.
the beach is nice but there is still not alot along the beach , only a few small stores and two bars/restaurants.

Wasaga beach used to be where families went for summer vacations. Picnics on the beach or week long stays in the rental cottages were familiar. Now its just a strip where teenagers go to get drunk and party naked. It needs major redevelopment and by that i don't mean Wal-Mart.

actually when i was there on wednesday of this week it was 80% families that were there . was hardly any teenagers it seemed .
but on long weekends and weekends that is a different story.
not sure why they built a wal mart there since there is also a new wal mart in collingwood only 10 minutes away and also wal marts in nearby barrie and midland .

I'll be there mid August for a massive paintball game. Should be about 1400 of us or so.
Any recommendations for a hotel/motel?

My understanding is that the beach is seperated in areas, and people will go to these areas depending of what they want to do.
AKA, one beach for the Parties, another one for the famillies.... ext...

His one beroom bachelor suite should fit a few. You'll have to kick avro off of his sofa though.

there might still be rooms in wasaga beach , but no chains there only small hotels . if there full you could also try nearby barrie or collingwood where there are lots of hotels.

the beach is actually a provincial park , myself i'm not sure if theres actually areas for parting in the sense. it more would depend on what day or weekend you visited the beach . may 24 or july 1 is a party weekend for sure . but other days are quieter and more familes come out .
