Gary Doer, Manitoba's NDP premier, obviously is thinking along the same lines as PM harper when it comes to the public subsidizing political parties.
Interesting. I wonder if our resident NDP'ers will be conflicted now?
only dirty rotten Conservatives would do such thing.
The BC Liberal government also came out in support.
I think there's definately an east/west shift on this topic.
I'm further west than the rest of you right now
I think Doer is doing is for other reasons.
I'm a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba, and an executive in local PC riding association, and the PCs have been overly pressuring the NDP Government here over these political party subsidies.
So much, that the PCs pledged to not take a cent of public funding in the next provincial election.
So I think this is Doer backtracking, because this could cause a headache for the Manitoba NDP in 2011 (likely year for the next provincial election).
But it's good to here. The Manitoba NDP is one of the few NDP branches I respect.

typical left wing double standard
Yes but they will say one thing now and another when in power , like bring back the Jets .
Once you give a politician money it cannot be removed as they are like children with candy. inseparable
