See how our Canola looks like your goldenrod, from a distance, or in pictures, at least?
And see how flat things are? Our hills are smaller than your knobs.

One of the precious few that appreciate Saskatchewan.
Go Roughriders!

Our hills are smaller than your knobs.

Cypress Hills are the highest point in Canada east of the Rockies. Higher than the Laurentians or the Gatineaus.

Woa I thought Saskatchewan was the most boring province in Canada but those pictures sure make me think twice!

In Saskatchewan the water is so crisp and clean, it actually has a unique taste from other waters. It is just very tasty and clear, do you find this too usebabe?

Whew! She didn't post any pics of me. THAT can take the 'pretty' out of any scenic shot!

From top to bottom:

-The great Sandhills

-Some of dads elk

-A mustard crop just south of Saskatoon

I'm glad you had a good time in the promised land! I'll be there early next week! Hopefully I'll catch a Rider game, but I aint sure.
Thanks for the pics, usababe and Robair, I sure don't go home often enough.

The best water I tasted in SK was in Markinch, just north of Regina and west of Southey. See they do have hills in SK!!
Anymore pictures??

but only a few scenic shots that aren't of the same scenery as before....lots of personal photos (we were there for a wedding, etc)......

the trip was a lot of fun....i'm worn out!!!!

usababe @ Thu Jul 28, 2005 3:48 am

i don't know about the water--we drank bottled water the entire time....the farm has a well but it has a salty taste i've been told....

Have fun on your trip home Hester!

the weather was very nice--a tad bit cool (they all thought i was crazy for wearing a light jacket i think) but now that i'm back in sweltering 100 degree weather i sure miss it! we walked out of the airport, looked at each other, and both thought "let's go back!"

the bugs were pretty bad and we couldn't sit outside much....but i understand the prairies have had a lot of unseasonal rain lately, contributing to the bugs i'd imagine.

I'm looking forward to getting back there. 'Cept the bugs, we don't have many here in Victoria. Regina, you must either be from, or know of, my neck of the woods, I lived in and went to school in Punnichy and then Southey.
I've heard how hot it is, I hope it's not that hot in Sask. It was 26 here last night, which is very hot for us, I don't want anything hotter than that. Thunderstorms would be cool though, that last pic of yours, usababe, looks like a thunderstorm was on the way. Was that pic taken just before the rainbow? I'm glad you liked Sask and enjoyed yourselves!

Southey!!? Hey that's just down the road from Markinch and Cupar!

Hester @ Thu Jul 28, 2005 5:09 pm

Most of the kids from Markinch come to school in Southey, as do some of the ones from Earl Grey - well, at least they did when I was there, Class of '85. Cupar has the closest hospital. Spent 7 days there in 83 with pneumonia. Spent another 7 days in hospital in 85... with pneumonia. I don't think there's anything in Markinch, maybe a coffee shop? Southey and Cupar have a few amenities, but very few. Good places though, gonna pass through Southey this summer.

Regina @ Thu Jul 28, 2005 11:21 pm

My parents met and married in Cupar and my aunt and uncle retired there from Markinch. The school in Markinch (when it was open) was only a stones throw south of my uncles farm. My grandmother is buried in the town plot which is WAY overgrown with grass the last time I was out there in 2001. Great memories of the area!!!!!!!!
