Good on them for putting their flight crews safety ahead of Political Corectness. Now to find a decent hotel fairly close to the airport. The Holiday Inn (formerly the Birchwood maaaaaaaany years ago) perhaps. Been so long since i stayed in a hotel in Winnipeg. I used to work right downtown(right near the corner of Portage and Main) and I never had any real problems with the indigies during the day, except for some pushy panhandlers.

When I went to enlist, they put us in the St. Regis....no chance I'd let my son stay there even if he was 17, but at the time('84) it didn't have the reputation it does now. In fact none of downtown Winnipeg had that rep. It was only with the influx of certain elements into the city that the downtown became a place people shun after the sun goes down.

I've stayed at some of the nicest hotels in downtown everywhere Canada. Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto...its all the same usually when you get out on the street. Kinda sad, a little scary.
