What I find interesting is they have a couple of bigger fish to fry then some Canadian who spoke her mind. The idiot comment seems to have taken up time that would have been better suited to say....finding Osama...studying the data compiled by Suddamm.

The fact that so much time and money was wasted on one person opinion shows the level of education they've all attained.

Hey one minute. Isn't America the land of the free? Isn't free speech one of their prized and often loudly toted freedoms?

Is calling the President a moron not a form of free speech? (never mind the truth of it)

eh2brute @ Fri Dec 20, 2002 2:29 pm

They may have "freedom of speech" written into the constitution but if you read the 'fine print' it says ONLY IF U HAVE THE MONEY OR POLITICAL POWER TO BACK IT UP

There are 2 justices here, one for those regular folks like us and then theres JUSTICE for those with the money...

Yep Twila, that is correct, we Americans are ALL idiots. And I have spent the last 21 years of my life serving this country all over the world to make sure that no American has the right to Liberty and Freedom. Thank you for falling into the over-generalization trap as so many Americans have about Canada. (RMPCs, igloos, aboot, poutine etc.)

Good day : :)

I apologize for making your feel the need to defend yourself. This was not my intent. As my comment was directed at the Government and the officials who had wasted time and money on that comment, I'm not sure how you fit in to that? Are you one of the government officials who wasted the time and money?

Mine was not a generalization. And what are RMPCs?

IRONMIKE @ Tue Dec 24, 2002 8:10 pm

Ma'am
First first of all I apologize for my mis-typing RCMPs. (Mounties I may mistakenly call them)

I am assuming, which may also be a mistake, that the opinion in which you refer to was the gentleman from the program Crossfire.

Thos damn American Crossfire guys on CNN really pissed me off, they had a rebuttal dialogue about the acceptance of resignation of the Pm's media coordinator. At the end of it he had the nerve to say in a sarcastic manor "What a government, what a country"

If this is the case I assure you that the time and money they spent on the this retort was well worth it because Cross-Fire is simply a way for CNN to provide sensationalism to the public through the use of two, very opposite views, that being the Liberal and the Conservative views. Last I checked the guys at Cross-Fire were not elected officials.

If I misunderstood I apologize. If not I stand my ground.

Thank you and have a great Christmas.
IRONMIKE :)

I think that it is the american government that is the stupidest out there

What kind of XxXxXx XxXxXxx prescribe GO PILLS(speed) to people operating warplanes that are worth 30 million dollars and then complain and threaten a country where some people want to smoke a little pot.
Only in America

Have you ever served in the military??? I dont think so. Common practice durin war.. or active times. Also this is not the FLAMING forum either..

Guest @ Thu Dec 26, 2002 1:41 pm

Yes you are right highlander, i have never sreved, was rejected.
was not FLAMING.The thread title is "Are Americans Stupid"
and i think that it is the american government that is.

I also remember watching the CTV news when the excuse "the pilots were on speed" was brodcasts and in response to the accusations the canadian military denied ever having prescibed "go pills" to its pilots, seems to me that its the americans doing this and for that i think that they ARE stupid A------S

It may be nieve for me to believe the CANADIAN military BUT i do

I'd say a big reason why we(americans) really don't know much about canada is because canada just isnt ever in the international news. On the other hand america, being the biggest, most powerful and most controversial country is constantly in the international news, so knowing something about the country is tough to avoid.
I can understand why countries 'hate' america, but at the same time I believe many of them are just as ignorant as some of us are. I mean if more of them just came and lived here for a year, I'm sure they wouldnt be complaining nearly as much, and might even want to live here.(as long as they stay out of NYC, chicago, etc northerners really ARE rude! atleast the majority of the ones I've met are anyways)

btw otterizer, is that you from hondasociety?

KikoSanchez @ Fri Jan 17, 2003 8:44 pm

As far as Americans being stupid goes, that is a very large generalization. Every country I believe has smart/stupid people, and the fact that America has a very high percentage of the population connected to the internet(higher than most countries) means that people responding to a poll is representative of a wider range of the population. Compared to say.....Russia or China, where it may be more of a priviledge to be connected to the internet, so only the wealthier are able to, and therefore such polls would be representative of the more educated people of the country.

Either way, every friend I have has gone on to college, which most people in foreign countries don't have the advantage of, and I would consider myself pretty smart :)
