Decisions, Decisions!

Talk about dissollusioned. Trying to decide which party to vote for is akin to trying to decide which whore to sleep with. The one with full-blown aids, or the one who is only diagnosed as HIV + or the one who has a raging dose of syphilis, or gonorrhea,or the one with herpes, or the one with genital warts.

Really? So you're considering voting for any one of the 4 parties. My vote will go to either Lib or NDP - which ever one has a better chance of defeating the CPC candidate in my riding. I'm terrified of a Reformacon majority.
Of the five, I think Jack Layton is the most credible, he has a positive platform, and is willing to work with others.

I
have to vote for one of them! Problem I see though is
not a single political party in Canada really does have 'the peoples' best interests at heart!

Take a look at the people that will be on the ballot come election day, not the party or the leader.

I don't know if that's really true. Who's interests do they have at heart? Obviously every party has to deal with the rich and with powerful corporations that can whipsaw them. But still, they get elected by us, so each one of the must be throwing us enough bones to hope we will vote for them. All in all, the NDP and Greens seem the most honest because they've never been in power and keep taking positions that don't resonate with the majority.

Well, the libs and cons have screwed canada over for decades. The nd's are to pro union. What I have against unions is that they 'reward' the lazy and incompetents' from the sweat of the 'honest and hard-working'.
That leaves the 'block' or the greens. I don't find much of a platform for the greenies, but they haven't screwed anyone over yet. Likely, because they just haven't been given that chance!

Screwed Canada over how? Financially? If so, where did that money go? I mean Mulroney took some kickbacks, maybe they all did, but that's peanuts compared to the budget of Canada.
I think every party is going to kowtow to the people with the money to influence things. So if that's what you mean by screwing over, I guess I agree with you. Even the NDP would have to play ball if they wanted to remain in power.
I'm not trying to start a fight here, nor am I defending the Libs or Cons. I'm just trying to clarify it in my own mind. It's easy to complain about politicians, but much harder to offer alternatives of what they should have done. I think the govt has sold out to big business, so I favor solution to rectify that. Like abolishing tax cuts to the oil industry, say. Yet Albertans seem to think those are a really good idea.
Good luck Yogi, it's as usual seems to be the least bad choice !

Really, it's all about the things that affect our day-to-day life.
Healthcare; do you think jack went to see his doc 27 mos ago and got put on a waiting list to get his hip surgery?
Do you think steves family gets told, "Sorry, the dentist can't see you until after he gets back from holidays on the 24th of August"!
or iggy tells his Old Lady " Sorry dear, you'll have to make do with the Mercedes that you got last year. We just can't afford that new 'Jag' you want"!

Ahhhh, no. 1 cent, 1 Billion dollars - tha amount isn't relevant. Stealing is just the symptom of the moral decay by those we trust to run things for us.

Yet, with the changes in elections funding, you'd think that would be eliminated.

What was this election called over anyway? I'm really hoping my riding has an Independent.

Where I live, they're called "The Bloc".

I wish they would run candidates in my riding (outside QC). Then we can vote for them, let them become government and have to actually live up to their rhetoric.

But they won't run candidates outside QC, because they know that's exactly what will happen.

If you really had other peoples best interests at heart you wouldn't be in politics in the first place

Seriously I do think there are a lot of hard working and for the most part honest politicians out there. It's just that "do good" headlines don't sell papers.
