I don't hate my country, I just hate the direction it is going.

8O sounds scarily familiar...
Care to elaborate? I was seriously thinking about coming up north for a while...

Gay marriage, the shitty Canada/US relations, gun control etc etc

Ahh, I see...the proverbial "one man's meat being another's poison". The very things you would love about the States, I detest :(...we should switch places.

You'd probably like Vancouver :) Plus it has all the perks of being West Coast. *and* if you find it's not your taste, it's just a quick flight south, right? :3

I find with Americans moving to the Canada, it's the "little things" that are hardest to get used to ;)

Yup love love love the west coast, I'm getting nostalgic about the weather here just thinking about leaving :( ....
As for the little things, I've always loved a good adventure, so I'm sure they won't be so bad

Adventure is the spice of life. I almost took a job for a two year stint in Siberia, kick myself for not taking it.

CanuckEMT @ Wed Mar 09, 2005 7:59 pm

Yes the west coast is nice, being from there originally i kinda miss it. The only thing I don't miss is that it can be fairly expensive to live there. But it is some of the nicest scenery in Canada.

And only a hop skip and jump to get to Seattle for supercross in the winter and Washougal for motocross in the summer....

Is true, it is definitely worth the adventure, just don't yell at me when something that you just take as given in the States is different here and just throws you for a loop lol. It's hard to think of examples somtimes... the pronunciation of "decal" is one. The workings of the post is another ;)

The only thing I like about BC is the skiing.

spikecomix @ Wed Mar 09, 2005 11:33 pm

The skiing is awesome, but it is one thing in a long list of things I love about Vancouver.

WarHawk @ Wed Mar 09, 2005 11:40 pm

I'll probably move to Alberta when I am older, Skiing AND conservatism! Image

I may come back one day.. but not until I'm forcefully deported from Canada.

Just out of curiosity, did you go through the whole application for permanent residency thing already or are you planning to deal with that later?

Canada does something like the US does on occassion. They provide a blanket Amnesty to Illegals.

I have no criminal record, I'm not prone to do things that cause me to bring attention to myself, I mind my own business, and I have a lot of personal integrity.

But... I don't meet currently strict immigrations laws.

To answer your question, I'll deal with immigration when I'm forced to. I've done a lot of research and this isn't some half-cocked idea. I understand the problems I would have if I got hurt, sick, or a number of other issues that would cause me to have to prove citizenship.

There are places you can work "under-the-table" in Canada at a living wage that not many questions will be asked... like "Social Service Number please...." Largely speaking, no one really cares about enforcing immigration laws in Canada exept immigration officers. There are a lot of illegals in Canada and if you don't cause problems you don't have problems.

How do I know all this? I lived there for a while (Thunder Bay, ONT). Why did I leave? Can't tell you... Wish I had stayed.

But to each his own, I'm doing something that could cause me a lot of problems with I'm also doing it alone and I'll accept the consequences of my actions.

I want a better life, a new life. The US is going to hell in a handbasket and I think George Bush is the Anti-Christ (lol). I'm "gittin" while the "gittins" good.

if you are doing anything illegal please keep it to your self and not publisise it here as not to involve "us" (the site and or memebrs) in any shady activities please...

Rumours, Lies, and False Allegations... I was somewhere else when it happened... as far as you know 8O

It's too bad we couldn't trade, I'd be willing to swap my Canadian citizenship for U.S. citizenship, I'd even throw in my EUropean citizenship for free!

Why is the grass always greener?

Every country has it's problems. I can tell you honestly, you do not want to be a part of a country that makes enemies of the rest of the world.

The World HATES the US. Safer to be from anywhere else.... except maybe Italy... US declared open season on Italians.
