You guys actually dream this stuff? I must be extremely well adjusted or extremely disturbed because I can't remember ever having a dream that even comes close to being classified as a nightmare. Hell, it's a rare occasion that I even remember what I've dreamed about.
Sometimes I think its my brain screaming for help. I have wierd dreams nice dreams and dreams where I have no idea what the hell is going on.
my dreams are mostly wierd and alot of them come true to a point in the future. The worst part is I dont know which ones are going to come true. I usually just dont worry about it.
Awhile ago..say 6 mo....I had a weird nightmare...saw a weird clownlike figure in my dream stalikng me and my dad
Last night I rented the new version of the texas chainsaw .ma.
at the end of the movie when they are doing the pd footage and they didnt secure the crime sceen....the leatherface dude is caught on film....thats what I saw in my dream....wild...
what the heck to make of it....i couldnt tell ya...all I know is that man...creepy.that is the exact immage I remeber
The paralysis thing happens to me quite a bit. I'm aware of my surroundings, fully awake, but can't figure out what the hell is wrong with me. I can put all my effort in to trying to move just one fingure and nothing happens! Always way freakier than any dream I've ever had.
I can't remember the name of the chemical, but your brain releases to keep you from acting out your dreams. That's where the paralysis comes from. I've had it happen a couple of times, and it's really scary.
I was watching this show about the UFO abduction thing (a real show that actually tried to deal with facts) and this phenomenon came up. I knew exactly what they meant and if I would have been just a little closer to actual sleep could well have thought that the dreams was true even after I woke up.
It is something that seems to be brought on by stress, RH. That might be why it happened to you a lot during that particular period of your life.
Sleep paralysis episodes are caused by electromagnetic radiation. The phenomenon has been studied at length by Dr. Michael Persinger at Laurentian University. His theories and tests indicate that mild electromagnetic waves passed through the brain can cause waking hallucinations, and he can even induce them in his lab.
Sources of electromagnetic radiation include earth stress (fault lines) and power lines. So if you've ever had one of these, check to see if you live near a fault line or power lines, including wires in your walls.
Ok heres something I get all the time when I try to sleep, a little off topic, but maybe this trick can help some people.
I get Massive craps in my calfs had them all my life. Craps so bad that I wont sleep a bit. I try to stretch, I try tiger balm the Red hot stuff, I try having sex (with my wife), I try taking huge amounts of drugs. I tried everything, nothing works. I just sit there in Pain all night long, then get up at 2:30 am to go to work the Meanest, M.F'er around.
One day on one of my mean streaks, I was having a coffee break with one of my staff, and she told me that her son has the same problem and what she was told to do is to stick a bar of Ivory soap underneth the top sheet at the foot of the bed. Only Ivory will works.
Done, no more craps. whats up with that. 99.9 percect pure has something to tweek my mind enough that I can get some sleep. I am one happy dude now.
I always have nightmares where I am in a giant factory and it is empty on the inside and I am being chased by a monster. The monster usually looks like Godzilla. And I am trying to run away but my feet feel heavy. They feel like they have lead weights on them and no matter how hard I try I can't run fast. Everytime I look behind me, the monster has come closer. When it is just about to grab me, I wake up.
I also have dreams where I climb up a giant climbing frame. It is as tall as a tower. When I reach the top, I jump off. And as I fall, I actually feel the sensation of me falling, and it's not nice. I see the ground approaching, and at the moment that I am about to hit the floor I wake up.
I quite often have long. technocolour. full sound science fiction type dreams that are much better than anything you'd see on the movies, but I wouldn't call them nightmares any more than I'd call going to see Terminator a nightmare.
The freakiest dream I ever had was I was standing in a ruined cityscape near a large pile of rubble and it was snowing lightly. There was a wolf near the top of the pile and it was howling about as mournfully as the dog in The Fly. Then a wind came up and blew against the wolf's fur and I could see that the wolf was mostly made of rubble too and couldn't move. Then I woke up. I used that scene in one of my stories.
GreatBriton, Carl Jung would suggest that a dream such as yours is in fact your subconcious trying to tell you that you can't run from your problems. That you have to stop running and face them. Course what exactly the "problem/issue" is, is harder to discover sometimes!
GreatBriton: I have had similar nightmares when I was younger; falling off of buildings, but I have actually hit the ground; more than on one ocassion I might add. Now, that is the strangest sensation I have ever felt; hitting the ground. It's really hard to describe, but darn freaky, I'll admit.
Worst nightmare? Too long ago. But I remember, there was fire around me.
