Sorry Canadian, you're still a criminal, but if you've done your time in jail then no: Welcome back to society.

ShepherdsDog @ Wed Jul 06, 2005 5:02 pm

If the crime involved intentionally harming or killing someone, ie. murder, rape, drug trafficking, assault with a weapon or child molestation, then fourteen years would have been an insufficient punishment.

:? I'm confused brother? If I did time, I'm not a criminal? I did not do any time actually....I received 400 hrs of Community service...which I never did any of, and was ordered to see a probation officer once every week for 4 years.....I saw him twice the whole time.

Again, am I still a criminal?

Was it a violent offense?

No. But what does that matter?

It totally depends on the crime. You're talking technicalitys.

If we travell far enough down your train of thought, then we'll come to the conclusion that there should never be warnings for speeding tickets. You were caught, so technically, you have to pay the price.

Laws are made by politicians, and a lot of them are stupid, and we know they're stupid, so they are inforced half assed.

Karla killed at least twice then pulled a very sneaky fast one and got off real easy. (I take comfort knowing she spent her first free day locked in her apartment out of fear, bitch)

Most still consider her a danger to society. You don't sound like a danger to society to me.

NetAbuser @ Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:42 pm

I worked with this guy. I will only give you his first name.
John. Well we worked together for 10 years before he retired. I had nothing but respect for this man. He was a hell of a hard worker! Hell after working midnights with him one night. I asked him to stop at my place and plow the snow. It was a long way out of his way! He did it anyway. You think he would take some $$$$$? Hell NO !! What a guy !
I found out that John did 8 years for MANSLAUGHTER ! It blew me away !
He took a gun and emptied it into someone else! He did his time and I STILL RESPECT THIS MAN. My Buddy John just passed on. I will miss him.
God Bless.

When it comes to what Karla did. Well thats a total different thing !
I hope she rots in hell !

canadian1971 @ Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:46 pm

 I'm a real menace to society eh! I spat on the sidewalk twice today!  and I did jump on a train the other day with out paying!!!!! MUHAHAHAHA

Ok, I see your point there Robair.....the victims of my crime, when it was all said and done, didn't lose a thing.

I don't know who said it...or if this is exactly how it goes...

No court can impose a harsher sentence than the one imposed by your own soul.

ShepherdsDog @ Wed Jul 06, 2005 9:15 pm

Homolka is a sociopath and has no soul. As I've said before, the only thing she feels regret about is being caught. If a serial killer/rapist raped or killed your wife and or children and you later tracked them and put him/her down, you would be guilty of a crime according to the courts. However, would you be a danger to society, even though you engaged in a violent act? Our courts continue to fail us and put members of society in danger. The real question is, what are we to do if our appointed guardians no longer fulfil their obligations?

ShepherdsDog @ Wed Jul 06, 2005 11:37 pm

Here's another sicko sociopath that the courts are giving a slap on the wrist to.

"Crown prosecutor Catherine Murray outlined 10 aggravating factors saying Ellard deserves seven years, the maximum time behind bars and the maximum time before she is eligible for parole.

Murray says the murder was beyond the norm because of its callousness and brutality, and she added, absolutely nothing positive has come from Ellard in the seven and a half years since she murdered Reena Virk."

Ellard has shown no remorse or admitted to guilt, was involvd in violent swarming incidents prior to Virk's murder and since. Because it was so horrible she gets all of seven years. What a crock of shit. This psychobitch has shown that she is a dangerous offender. Oh well, CBC will be waiting with an Ice Cap for her after she gets out . Poor dear, maybe you can get some comfort in the arms of Karla after you get out.

In a case like Homolka's?When public justice fails, all that honorable people can relay on is private vengeance.

Giselle @ Thu Jul 07, 2005 9:27 am

It never seems to stop surprising me how ridiculous the average person sounds when ranting, no one here is discussing, Karla.

I'll start off by saying that I think she got off pretty lightly as well for the crimes she was involved with. Is she the worst offender and most vile criminal or person around? Not even close. Is she a sociopath? I have no idea, nor does anyone else here or in the media. Oh and neither does Mr. Danson.

Do I know or care where she is or going? No. The odds of Karla deciding to run amoke in some neighbourhood in Montreal are about the same as any of you doing so. So here you are, many of you actually inferring you'd kill her should you get the chance should you run into her. Who's the lunatic? If you are so outraged by someone that was involved in the senseless murder of innocent Canadian citizens where were you when Bush rode on into town a while ago? Oh, I forgot you are the same people that usually believe the main stream media outlets, you probably think that burning planes actually caused all those buildings to collapse in NY, right?

It always floors me when something like this happens, people get all rabid for no real reason. Do you think there is anything that you can actually do here? No, give it up. It would be interesting to actually see how some of you would indeed react should you run into her. It would be interesting to see how many of you actually would become caught up in 'frenzied mob mentality'. Becoming so entranced by the situation that you actually did kill her. I wonder what your defense would be?

Of course like most people when it comes to the real issues that you actually can have influence on you're at Timmy's grabbing an Ice Cappuccino.

And for the record, I hope she gets hit by a bus and dragged for a number of blocks and comes to rest in a swept up pile broken glass that was used to store paint thinner. After a few minutes of that a street cleaner should come by peel her remaining skin off with those two spinning brushes. And that would be the end of the Karla story.

ShepherdsDog @ Fri Jul 08, 2005 1:19 am

Here's an exerpt from Charles Montaldo, the Crime and Punishment contributor for About.com, discussing Homolka's incarceration.

Party Prison: Rumors of Homolka's incarceration being too lenient surfaced after pictures of her sunbathing and partying with other prisoners was published in Canadian newspapers. It was also rumored that she was in a lesbian relationship with Christina Sherry, who was a convicted child-rapist. It was later determined however, that her lesbian lover was not Sherry but instead, Lynda Verrouneau, convicted of participating in a bank robbery.

JayRoc @ Tue Aug 02, 2005 9:18 am

Proculation Proculation:
For my point, I really don't care that she is released.
She did her time even if some think she didn't have enough. She is now free. And I would not mind AT ALL that she moves just next to my house. Can you really believe she is again a danger for the society because of what she did when she was young ? After TWELVE years of prison ?
I think no and people who believe that needs to get some brain and let the emotional part out.

Damn. now I know why she wants to live in montreal. How about we send Clifford Olsen and all the other sick fucks in the Canadian prison system to live Quebec.

Tory_canuck @ Thu Aug 04, 2005 12:17 am

Bring back Capital Punishment.
