Ok ok..... yes I think it's just a ploy to get votes in the next election, but. What's the real point???? If we're sending Ottawa too much right now, and no one is really bitching, why not use the extra funds to pay down the deficit??? The way they've talked in the past, if we paid off the deficit, we could cut our taxes in half, and still have a huge surplus.... :?

Paying off our debt is propably the best thing to do but given their precarious position they are understandably trying to gain more support. Personally I would link to see the debt keep coming down but I won't say no to lower taxes either.

I believe the taxes they may be cutting are the income tax for small and large business and other corportate taxes. This'd work to get the Grits some much needed coporate voters who like the idea of added investment in the economy and their respective companies.

Well, I run a small business, and I'd be just as happy if they just didn't raise the taxes!!! And would be much happier to get the deficit paid down. In the long run, I feel that would help much more than throwing us a few bones just before and election..... But the sad thing is, all parties seem to pull this BS....

Point of contention. The deficit refers to the amount the government is short (unless its a surplus year) foe the years budget. The Debt is the sum total of all deficits since confederation and is currently around 500 billion. The Libs have been chopping it steadily since 1997.

Ladies and Gentelmen.

The amount of vote buying by the Liberals in the last couple of months, has been all but discreate. They have covered the country coast to coast, minus of course my home provence of Alberta and the rest of the prairies. In Nova Scotia / Newfoundland they gave up 100% of all oil and gas rights, the rest of the maritime accord helps the other two maritime provences. The New Govenor General is from Quebec and can't make up her mind on seperatism. Ontario is gettting more money from the Feds Then we skip over to BC and there is already something in the works, not that it matters cause all you need to be the PM is win the majority in Quebec and Ontario. People ask why most of us westerners/prairie folk, are always angree with the liberals and the federal gov't. Well here is the answer, we have been burned time and time again by them, here in Alberta everything that we have that is above and beyond what the rest of Canada has, we worked extreamly hard for. Not to mention getting bankrupted by the NEP, by the man hailed as one of the greatest PM's in Canadian History.

I'm openly willing to admit to being a "Red Tory". Therefore it stands to reason that I naturaly want to see a change in the Federal Gov't. The biggest problem is that Stephen Harper is not far enough to the preverbial left or "red" in the tory house. Now then with Quebec and Ontario being as red as thery are you can't have yourself a leader on the far right of your party. This then breeds the notion that I'm getting from people here in the forums and throughout all of Ontario, that they would rather have the devel they know then have the devel that they don't know.

So what do we do with the lack of true, honest leadership in the government today, as this id most definatly the problem we have with our two devils. Any ideas, lets here them. Everytime that there is a leadership debate for any party I like to sit down and watch. It's interesting that the people that get elected such as the four leaders of the four major parties couldn't lead themselves out of a wet paper bag. We have mr. dithers who I have met and doesn't even have enough of a spine to stand up strait, yet we ask this person to "straighten out" the coruption on so many levels. Then there is good ol Steve'O who has nothing better to do than try to bring down the gov't at every turn, not even trying to do something productive. Then there is Jack, he has an agenda thats longer than my... well you know .....it's long not to mention unrealistic at this time. Last but not least we have our speratist friend "G" and we all know what is at the top of his list. The only one out of all three "non seperatist" leaders that want's to do somehting is Jack. I don't like him but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Ladies and Genttelmen we need not worry about tax cuts and who gets what we need an overhaul or maybe, even a new system of Government, cause the one that we have now is in a nose dive that they can't pull out of.

To answer the subjet line. "he gets Taller"
