Ummm, I didn't actually. Still don't. Osama either. Never had much use for Kim Il Jong or his dad. Never liked Marcos either, or Baby Doc. I also refuse to support the people who played the political games that brought these people to power.

Just thought I'd debunk some nasty rumours somebody is trying to start.

You oppossed a war that removed Saddam from power. Therefor you supported Saddam whether intentionally or not. Those political games wouldn't have had to be played if it wasn't for the threat of Soviet expansion. Think about that.

What a terrifyingly horrific incorrect illogical conclusion. Yikes!

Reminds me of when I was in grade school and 1 of my friends didn't like someone and so I couldn't like them either.

Odd, it reminds me of a party I was at once. These guys in the corner were gobbling horse tranqs and everytime somebody needed to take a leak we had to beat the bastards back with empty bottles and a cue-stick.

polemarch1 @ Thu Jun 12, 2003 8:18 pm

You say you opposed Saddam? Then where was the words of condemnation? There where none. You where silent. You've made it clear that you would support any tyrant as long as he oppossed America.

STFU already pole, your BS is starting to piss too many folks off here.. Tone it down a notch or find another forum more suited to your political leanings OK !

Where were the words of condemnation? Where were you when I was questioning how and why Saddam and guys like him were rising to power? Where were you when we were wondering why he was gassing Kurds and not only weren't we stopping him, but US and European leaders were shaking his hand? Where were you when we were arguing for human rights to be tied to trade issues so genocide wouldn't be profitable?

Some of us were extremely critical of Saddam before he cut the strings and got away from the puppet masters. Now it is time to speak out to try to keep the puppet masters from making the same mistakes over again.

Your profile says you're a student Polemarch, so I'm going to assume that you just never had the chance to watch the world become a steadily worse place since about 1979. The common thread running through the events in the Middle East and elsewhere since then has been world powers playing games with nations and the people they backed turning on them, then those powers doing the same thing all over again.

To use an old country phrase ( still popular in these parts ) with regard to the mess in the world - " The chickens have come home to roost . "

Rev_Blair @ Sun Jun 15, 2003 6:20 am

I never really understood that phrase. I've been around chickens for most of my life and they never go anywhere, so how can they home?

electricbuford @ Sun Jun 15, 2003 9:36 am

I never understood it either , along with another country phrase " Hornier than a ten - peckered billy goat " . Although anything with ten peckers would probably get pretty horny sometimes  Anyway , a local told me the chicken phrase means : If you do something bad or wrong , it will come back to you .

Rev_Blair @ Sun Jun 15, 2003 7:43 pm

Oh, I understand what it means, it just doesn't make any sense. It must have been thought up by somebody who never knew the joy of killing chickens.

I like the billy goat one...never mind the ten peckers, billy goats have a well deserved reputation for mounting anything that moves.

nonrev @ Mon Jun 16, 2003 11:56 am

It just refers to the chickens that have spent the day crossing the road.

Youre right, they dont go far, so even crossing the road is a big adventure for them.

Mind you, in a major city, crossing the road can be an adventure for anyone.......
