Now if only there was a video to help us tell the difference between the shit I usually post and a steaming pile of horseshit.

There's a difference? [huh]

So, a 'prog' is just a left-wing version of you. Hateful, intolerant, lingering on the fringe of society prone to violent fantasies about changing the world.

No, you misunderstand. I'm the resistance.

I like small government and lots of liberty and my dearest desire is a government that to the greatest extent possible leaves everyone alone.

What I don't like are snot-nosed leftists telling me what to eat, drink, read, watch, think, buy, and own.

Yes Bart, the "Progressive" opposition to that is this idea of intersectionalism and the progressive stack.

The Prog overcast convinces the underlings to form around groups of victim ideologies gathering strength as a collectivist, intersectional whole then following the leader towards the promised guidance of the Progressive master ideology.

In other words...

Another thing that makes me smile and shake my head about 'Progressives' is the way they choose to believe that if they believe a thing it becomes reality and everybody else must now recognize it as the only possible truth.

And they must continue to believe it even after Reality has conclusively shown them they are incorrect.

"Not my President."

Indeed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink

$1:
Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.

Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising controversial issues or alternative solutions, and there is loss of individual creativity, uniqueness and independent thinking. The dysfunctional group dynamics of the "ingroup" produces an "illusion of invulnerability" (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made). Thus the "ingroup" significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the "outgroup"). Furthermore, groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions against the "outgroup".

Antecedent factors such as group cohesiveness, faulty group structure, and situational context (e.g., community panic) play into the likelihood of whether or not groupthink will impact the decision-making process.

Groupthink is a construct of social psychology but has an extensive reach and influences literature in the fields of communication studies, political science, management, and organizational theory,[1] as well as important aspects of deviant religious cult behaviour.[2][3]

Funny because Trump supporters are the most deluded collection of groupthinkers that has ever existed in a first world country. Nobody has ever been so hypocritical, self-contradicting, morally and intellectually incoherent, or fervently supportive of far-fetched fabricated conspiracies as this cult-like political minority. But it’s a stretch to suggest they actually think

You like corporations to do that for you, with nobody able to stop them? Or you want to make America like Somalia but with more white people?

N_Fiddledog @ Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:09 pm

Here ya go Beave. You won't get this either but at least the rest of us will know why.

Thanos @ Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:18 pm

Bertrand Russell. Don't think an ideologue such as yourself really wants to go there, dawg. He probably wouldn't sit at a table with any modern conservatives because he'd find it to be too distasteful and close-minded.

N_Fiddledog @ Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:27 pm

I like to hope I'm big enough to notice when somebody's right even if he's more generally ideologically misguided.

Plus, it always seems to irritate the right people when I quote somebody like possible socialist George Orwell, or Liberal humanist Sam Harris...or Bertrand Russel.

Thanos @ Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:36 pm

Good of you to credit all those known socialists for the correctness of their beliefs, especially for Russell and Orwell who regarded capitalist greed as one of the true banes of humanity, one that will ensure that most of the human race will be down on all fours until it is finally abolished.

Why are you and Beave doing your Cathy Newman impressions tonight?

They sound like when she goes, "So what you're saying is..."

Whatever. Let's have some fun then. Let me do my Jordan Peterson imitation in reply:

"No, I'm saying if somebody does say something clever I hope to be open-minded enough to recognize it in spite of any differences in ideologies."

You've got me interested now though. This Cathy Newman thing you two are doing that reverbs like "So what you're saying is"...

Is it something you kind of catch from hanging around your Progressive websites or is it more just a case of you don't understand what the meme quote is actually saying? Because if it's the second thing I would worry that you might be proving his point?

Thanos @ Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:03 am

I really don't know what you're talking about nor do I have any interest in finding it out. I just find your use of philosophical figures who wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near the cracked-head sort of right-wing extremism you adore to be amusing at best.

I see, so you don't know what I'm saying but you're pretty sure you're the one qualified to judge it and tell me who might listen to it?

And you won't let me talk you out of your determination to remain ignorant then? Pity...I had hope.
