Then you probably wouldn't label yourself a Protestant when StatsCan comes around again in 2011 (religion is done every decade), will you?

Why not? I'm not embarrassed about it. It's my religion.

The key is distinguishing between religious nutjobbery (which I am against), and people who use the church as a social group for doing good (which I stand behind). The latter doesn't require me to believe anything the Bible says.

Oh' and by the way it doesnt indicate in any way that they "are Believers in the Bible" merely on how they identify themselves by religion. Namny Catholics believe in abortion, certainly many protestants believe in gay marriage. From my own experiences of having go through the census process you have the option to identify yourself as one of the above religions. But it doesnt indicate in anyway if these people are regular church goers and many people simply identify themselves by family upbringing

The header on the beggning of this post is mis-leading

Pretty much.

At death every person will come before God and be judged for their life.

Atheists, Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists.

Everyone

From there the gate of Heaven will be opened or thy sinner will fall to the pits of thy hell.

Just because a number of people identify themselves as belonging to a certain faith it does not mean that they individually believe in the Bible. I've met plenty of people at churches past and present who evidence no belief in the Bible, God, Jesus, or etc.

They're nice enough people, but they don't evidence a belief.

Based on past experience, I'd say that in the USA maybe 10% or so of the people who call themselves Christians or Catholics really, truly believe and profess their salvation through their faith.

For the rest of them church is a kind of moral social club that they totally ignore except between 11am and noon on the Sundays that they happen to attend services.

Because I agree with the majority of their policies. They aren't a religious party.

Well said Bart it never ceases to amaze me that the people who most profess to be "religious" . More often than not are the ones so quick to judge and so easily mislead . I think society as a whole has become so intensly focused on being right. They have forgotten the basic commandment of judge not or ye shall be judged. They hide behind proposed religious beliefs and twist the written word of the bible to satisfy there own " moral" beliefs. If some one innocently steps outside these boundries people see as right and proper, they are the ones most often the quickest to cast judgement. People no longer see people, they see surfaces of people. They see shades of character and they judge based on something that may be nothing more than a shadow. Christanity is something that you live, it is not something that you are. Yes the Jig as they say is up. I am neither drunk, nor stupid, nor a slut. I am a highly intelligent articulate girl. As is Kitty. The way she was degraded today over abit of fun and few pictures was disgusting. A few words on the internet, a few pictures. The people I suspect on this board to be the most likely to profess themselves as Christian. Were the ones so quick to judge about her character, her intellect, her sense of morality. The length of someones skirt, the way they have fun are mere shadows of who that person is as a whole. Judge not for ye shall be judged.
