When I was a kid we boys in the neighbourhood all envied the sons of the Italian immigrants who took their boys to their favoured hooker as a rite of passage.

If he's an adult then by all means but if he is still a kid then it's a bad move.

I thought you could join at 17 years of age?

My father would always joke whenever I or my siblings asked for a drink before we were 19 that he wouldn't buy us one, but he'd buy us twelve, and watch us drink every last one before buying us a big cigar and going for a drive... I never took him up on the offer

Which country lets you join at 17?

As I said before, if you can die for your country, should be able to have all the responsibilities of an adult including drinking.

If you can join at 16, then you can drink at 16, 15 whatever.

Then again what kind of people would send their children off to war?? Islam

Canada? Unless it is just for the reserves. Actually I think it is even 16. I think you may need your parent’s permission if you are under 18? Maybe some of the soldiers on here can explain that.

I'm pretty sure Canada lets you, with parent's consent.

Yes I think you are right.

CIA factbook says this.

Canada: 16 years of age for voluntary military service; women comprise approximately 11% of Canada's armed forces (2001).

Well 16 you can drive, fighting in the military or drinking should also be allowed.

But when I talk of children in the military, I am talking about 12 year, 14 or much younger.

Most 16 year olds in Canada have already been sexually active, had a taste of booz whith friends or drugs and many smoke.
