I havn't been on these forums for too long but I am disgusted by some of the comments and statements that I seen so far. So, to get an opinion from a wider audience, I would like to ask a question. Without specifically mentioning any one religion or ethnicity, I am curious.
All the events that are taking place today, including Wars, Terrorism, Political Ideologies and so on, is religion to blame for all this or is it people that are still going through a process of intellectual evolution, still learning to behave among each other?
People.
most wars are based on religion ...esp in the middle east and bosnia...
Without people, there will never be religion. Without religion, mankind will still exist...
thats true.. but belief in something after life is what drives religion.. and it is the forcing of religious ideation on people that causes the war... muslims think they should convert the world (the infidels) the jews think they are the chosen people of God.. Catholics think they are the only true religion which is apostolic and created by Christ and so on and so on... when you try to force your beliefs on others it results in war.... pits one against the other...
There would still be wars without religion.
Even the most righteous religions are prone to misguided interpretations. I don’t think suicide bombings were what Allah had in mind when he wrote the Koran nor do I think Jesus felt that any type of Crusade was needed or just.
Yeah people. Religion is an excuse for what they have in mind anyhoo.
A degree of racial prejudice is a factor in the Islan-terrorist---religion is just an excuse---certain idiots perhaps are religiously motivated but I believe they are a minority.
Dosen't communism replace religion?
All that fraternal aid from the USSR, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc, etc. has sturred up just as much trouble as the folks killing for their god.
People.
Religion is an excuse people warp to wrap around themselves.
It's people abusing religion.
People use religion to control other people. So to say it is the fault of religion takes the blame away from the real problem: that we have still not learned to live alongside each other.
Religion and its practices are an expression of a people's culture. Christianity has had its extremists, although they are fewer and far between as time progresses. These extremists are condemned and vilified by the overwhelming majority of Christians. However certain 'other' religions seem to be experiencing an increase in extremist acts. These acts are either met with silence or are celebrated by their co religionists, proclaiming murderers martyrs. A lack of condemnation is tantamount to support of these acts. Geno is just having a temper tantrum because we labeled Hamas terrorist criminals, while he thinks it's a legitimate organization. pffft
I would say the blame is 50/50.
People require hope in order to justify their lives.
Religon gives them hope that all of their efforts will be rewarded.
Power hungry Religous leaders use religon to villify those who have a different view.
People want to know that their suffering will end so they blindly follow their religon.
It is a vicous circle!!!
