I think the whole world knows by now what the real reason is for the season, so it is just an oppurtuity for the christians to let the world know who Jesus is, and why it is a goodwill toward mankind. mankind will hear it at least once in there lifetime, so it is a good evangelistic tool for us. If people get saved one or two during this Christmas it is worth it. Jesus at least it has been addressed. So for that I am happy. All it is to us is an addressing of our Lord and saviour of why and how He died for all mankind. The rest they don't matter to us at all, too much. So Merry CHRISTmas! EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!
The family had all there preparations been done, but not quite all. They have all the guests called what time the dinner was to be served. The presents were all under the beautiful tree, the beautiful home was beautifully decorated inside and outside. The best dishes and utensels were all set at the table. Everything was all set up at the home. So some of the family still had some odds and ends that needs to be done, before the beautiful dinner was to be had in about 2-3 hours. So there was to be last minute things that needed to be done. The family was called in for prayer before the odds and ends errands are to had. The lady of the home prays,.........and adds we are asking for your person Jesus to come and join us. Amen. She thought nothing of it. Then, the teens of the family young people were released to go and to tie up the loose ends for this perfect dinner. Dinner to have with guests and family. Singing of carols, Giving of presents. And of the pleasant surprises of one when one gets for a present. The oohs and aahs of the beautiful tree and the beautiful decoration of the Home inside and outside, and the beautiful settings of the table, and the Turkey with all its trimmings. The fire place is on, A very beautiful fireplace. The man and Wife are still at home getting ready with there hair and what not for the beautiful christmas dinner which they have prepared. Absolutely nothing is missing. The wife says, " I was upstairs doing my hair. Then the doorbell rang, I said, Honey can you get that? He answered the door. My husband opened the door and was shocked to see Jesus standing there. "Jesus said I guess you weren't expecting me either."Then my husband came up to and said, " There is a guest at the door." I said, " Ok well let Him in" He said " I don't think you are expecting this one.' I said 'well who is it Hon?" my husband looked very serious and said " it is Jesus standing at our door." I said" What? I went downstairs there He was. He said" I see you weren't expecting me, too.He came in He looked at the tree. I felt So inadequite how secular my tree looked, thats the feeling I had, he noticed there was no present for Him under the tree, I felt bad. His face was so gentle, His eyes so gentle, I could feel that he was feeling down abit. I felt his hurt. We went to the dining room where the dinner is going to be, He looked around all the beauty we have made did seem so inadequite of this beautiful person that has came and joined us. The rest of the family came for the dinner , there was so much reverence among the kids. After the dinner then He left our Home. This is a true story.
Thanks Biblical_Christian for this perspective & info.
Christmas is truly Christian, exept for Santa Claus which a mix of germanic paganism and a bit of catholic superstition. But SC is not Christmas. We should catch him and burn nasty him, stealer.
Remains Halloween. I'll celebrate the Reformation instead from next year on.
PS : never heard about a thing called mistletoe.
How Christmass is a high jacked Pagan day?
Lets have a bit of a history leason. Dec. 25, in the days when Christianity was just accepted by roman as a national religion, was the day the followers of Mirtha (sp) cleibrated by doing gift exchanges. The roman emporer, can't rem. his name but the one that firt made chirstianity a roman national religion, wanted to do something to squash this rival religion. So he had Chirst's Mass held on that same day and decreed that all romans would hold Mass and have a feast of some sort. After the followers of Mithra did as they were commanded they still went and exchanged gifts.
It was pointed out to the chirstians about the three wise men and their gifts so the chirstians started doing the same thing. Thus Christmass is a high jacked pagan day.
For Christmass is supposedly the celibration of Christ the lords birth yet even you BC pointed out that its most likely that Jesus was born in July. Which makes sense seeing how he was born during a census takeing and do to the travel time needed for all to get back to their home town they would have had to leave in spring time and arrive early to mid summer. No one in their right mind would have had a census in the middle of winter when travle was to hard to reach places houndreds of miles away if not even farther for some.
Please before opening your mouth and inserting foot do a bit of research on the subject before you make a fool of yourself and by assosiation make all Christians look bad. Some of us actualy know how the holiday came about yet still find it truly joyfull to celibrate the comeing of our Lord even if we have the wrong day.
I think some have actualy calculated the day He was born. To me, and many others, it does not matter its the fact he was born then died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead and later rose to heaven that counts.
