buddha make it very clear that he wasnt a god..theres this one story where a woman brings her dead child to buddha and asks to bring it back to life..buddha replies if she can produce just one person in the world whos never had a death he will do that...just in case this goes over your head the child obviously remains dead.he was a great spiritual teacher and thats it..and i still think youre totally fucked in the head

I'm sure that Buddhists brush their teeth just like Christians. I'm not interested here in the many ways that Christianity and Buddhism might be similar but in their differences, this one central difference in particular.
Also, for the sake of this thread, to pacify the Nietzschians let's assume that God is dead. That heaven and hell are just myth. That when you die you are dead as a coffin nail.
Nevertheless, my point stands. This seems to be a central difference between Buddhism and Christianity. Consider the example set by Jesus vs. Buddha. Buddha left his family to pursue enlightenment while Jesus suffered for the love of his friends.
Consider further the products of Christianity and Buddhism. Christianity invented science and capitalism and it was Christians who discovered and colonized the New World and drew the world together. Buddhism has accomplished...what?
It may well be that Buddhist techniques can reduce suffering in the same sense that an aspirim can relieve a headache.

Inquesition , were not done by the Bible believing Christians. We don't put people in racks, burned them on stakes, ok? Never have, and never will.
