JJ's the only person I know who identifies as Canadian and actually says aboot....

   

It actually makes me cringe.

   

Nobody I've ever seen in the mainstream media likes him. They usually write to criticize his moronic takes on things like how the Parliamentary system works in this country. A lot like when he was posting on this forum, actually.

Does he even have anybody who can stand him at all outside of his own little clique of supporters? Whether it was on social media, in mainstream commentary or this forum, he's always been ripped to shreds.

I also noticed that both he and Nora Loreto were columnists for the Washington Post for a while. That says a lot of things about the Post's editorial standards, all of them bad.

   

I always found JJ to be talented but his focus was obstinate and contrarian. I chalked that up to him just finding out who he was and using this board as a sounding board for his ideas.

The reason why when he says aboot is so jarring is because literly nobody says it so when he does it really highlights it. He is playing up the American stereotype of what a Canadian is just like that CNN's Richard Quest is their idea of a Brit.
