We better agree to disagree here

   

Islam unlike Christianity and Judaism is retrogressing. Once upon a time Islamic cultures were the advanced(comparatively speaking) ones and Christian Europe was still trying to recover from the loss of Rome. Nowadays, it is Islam that embodies superstition and intolerance towards other views. So yes, it is definitely behind the times.

   

Christianity still fares pretty well in the superstition and intolerance towards others department. Just take a look at how the American government is still trying to ban gay marriage, and how its president thinks that God talks to him directly.

   

Yep. Let's all have a bite of the nutcake.

   

Parts of the Islamic World has "retrogressed" from where it once was, but only parts.

   

It would depend on the extent the law and what it would cover before I would agree with that. If we're talking marriage, ya sure the Catholic Church has rules but I don't think anyone from the Catholic faith would consider those to be "above the law" or parallel to it.

I'm a catholic myself and to be honest with you when people say that we have our own "laws" the only thing that comes to mind is that if you want a divorce (annulment) the church pretty much insists you go to marriage counseling first. Even then getting an annulment from the church can be a bit difficult.

That being said, I've never really viewed that as a "law" by any means. I can still get legally divorced (to the best of my knowledge), it's just that I may not be allowed to re-marry in the catholic church with out the annulment.

Other than that I really can’t think of any other “laws” that the Catholic Church has off hand.

   

large parts of the Islamic world has been coopted by their fundies, and more look like they are ready to fall. What we consider Christian fundamentalists, are by comparison, extremely liberal. Visit some Islamic nations and you'll get a clear picture about how accepting and tolerant the societies are. The individual people yes....the overall culture no.

   

These Laws will only cover Personal Disputes, Marriages, Divorce, 1 Muslim breaking some kind of Contract with another Muslim, etc. No Muslim is obligated to use that option, they can choose to if they want though. Both Parties have to agree.

   

Methinks we need to start training to re-invade Europe, cause it's going to get bent over again. *sigh*

   

Screw that. The next time those whores in the brothel-continent of Europe find themselves in another totalitarian mess of their own creation they can solve it on their own. No more North Americans troops should ever have to die again to save the ingrates of Europe. IMO the Islamofascists can have the whole lot of them.

   

That's the best example of Christian intolerance? Wow. So...the Islamic World has gays being executed. Christianity just doesn't want them married...


Me thinks there is a big rift between the two

   

yup...you know it!! disagreeing with something or expressing disapproval is just the same as cutting someone's head off or stoning them.

   

Actually Christianity is making great progress in acceptance. Some churches are blessing same sex marriages, and even have gay priests.

   

The laws are actually rules that only bind practicing RCs. Now of course where things get dicey is when religious groups want to impose their views on others - the cause of much damage and bloodshed throughout history.
