Is the ban on organized prayer, or on school led prayer in the classroom? What exactly is organized prayer? Would they be required to all face different directions to make appear disorganized?
The ban is on organized prayer. And the purpose for it is because our public schools are not supposed to be places of religious indoctrination/instruction. Allowing someone to lead a group in prayer or religious instruction in a public school during school hours flies directly against that ban.

Sandorski's post on the previous page fairly well nails it. It's a hell of a distinction between allowing someone time and space to retire from the institution's activities to practise their religion and making religious practise part of an institution's activities. The SC ruling on council meetings (and they got it right) is clearly the latter.
I don't think the distinction is that clear cut. For instance, in making this ruling the Suprme Court cited the Constitution. The Constitution is the Supreme Law of Canada.

I'm sorry I'm laughing but, we're sitting here arguing over the fact that we don't want our schools to become places of religious indoctrination or instruction while, we completely ignore the fact that those same schools have been allowed to become exactly that for political agenda's and debatable theories.
Public schools should be for education not indoctrination either religious or political and cloaking those things with the claim of building a better more rounded student is utter bullshit because only giving one side of an argument or point of view to a captive audience is the pinnacle of, indoctrination.

If what you say is true, people who object to this situation should be taking on the govt, suing even, assuming this ban is the law.
As I understand it, Muslim students were buggering off Friday afternoons because they went to a Mosque to pray on their holy day, and then weren't coming back to school. So the school allowed the prayers in the school to try to retain the students. Seems sensible to me. Also seems to me that this opens the school up to Christians who want to start the day with prayer pushing to have that happen in a reserved space. Couldn't blame them if they pushed for that.
