I agree with you, Blue Nose. Imagine is so overused that it makes me want to barf.

I don't know if anyone out there has done more research into the flood myth, but there is a bit of validity to the story; it's just another one of those stories that got blown right out of proportion.

It is quite possible that Noah did save his family from a flood by building a big boat (though he is more likely an iconic figure.) However "the whole world" to the Jews (let's face it, the early testament is all theirs) was a pretty small part of the overall globe, and didn't encompass the pygmies of the Congo or the Inuit people. Jesus, being a born and raised Jew, would of course support the scriptures as the word of God; it was what he was taught to believe (which is why people in this day and age can still think we all came from two people in the beginning-- never mind the eight that were the result of God hitting the reset button. Thanks, fundamentalist teachings!!!)

Despite that, there is geographical evidence that supports this flood theory. Over 7,000 years ago there was flooding in that area so severe and traumatic that it became legend amongst survivors, and this tale evolved.

The Bible is rife with personal bias and hyperbole. The idea that the Israelites left Egypt and crossed the Red Sea freely while the Egyptian Army who pursued them were drowned in pursuit obviously didn't happen in the Charlton Heston Ten Commandments sense. Secular Christians can accept that the Israelites probably made their way across the seabed during low tides, and that their pursuers were impeded by the tides. This could be an act of God or just good timing.

as with most history..timing is always crucial....

it would be interesting to see the original wording of the bible and compare them to the wriiten word of today and see the continual upgrading of the original work.
