A Saskatoon woman sterilized against her will five years ago says she is still suffering physically and emotionally from the procedure.
Brenda Pelletier told CBC News she was a recovering addict when she underwent a tubal ligation at Royal University Hospital. Her mother was caring for her twin sons and four other children at the time.
When Pelletier delivered her youngest daughter, a social worker told her she couldn't leave until she had a tubal ligation. She said she was hounded to sign the consent form.
Thought it would be better here than under Native issues, as this has been done in the past to poor whites as well.

Pelletier, who is Cree Métis
This was a bit confusing. is she Métis or is she Cree?
Seems to mean Metis, whose aboriginal ancestors were Cree. Or maybe one parent is Cree, the other is Metis.

Officials at the Saskatoon health region said they've apologized to Pelletier and another woman with a similar story.
Yeah okay. That'll make everything better.
Normally I'd say tough shit because she and her brood are more than likely a burden on society but, since I can't stand assholes who claim to be morally and intellectually superior to the rest of us and therefore feel that they should be allowed to make self righteous decisions based on thatgdistorted view of their own importance, I'm going to side with these women.
Her having 6 other children doesn't mean shit when it comes to the fact that some bureaucratic elitist at the U of S Hospital decided that she shouldn't be allowed to have anymore children and worked overtime to make sure she didn't.
So, with that in mind maybe she'll hire some lawyer like Tony Merchant and take the whole pathetic lot to court and financially punish them for their arrogance, ignorance and elitism because, apologies are nice if someone sneezed on you but, don't mean shit when someone fucked up your body.
I also wonder how many more women were "coerced" into being sterilized by these social engineering control freaks?
I can empathize because of what happened to my grandmother . She had a DNR order posted in her room. She spent thirty years as a nurse and was in good mental health, although physically frail. She suffered a heart attack that should have finished her quickly. But, some little prick of a resident ignored her request, because he thought he knew better and interfered, dragging her death out for three agonizing days.
