Should North American Men Be Expected to wear the Burkha ?or just Islamic and Muslim men where the Burkha is a custom within the family ?

Blue_Nose @ Wed Jan 10, 2007 6:48 am

Idiotic question.

hwacker @ Wed Jan 10, 2007 6:51 am

Ask Abbas, on a chilly morning like today he's probably slipping on an extra burka to keep the cold out. That and a pair of traditional Kodiaks with the green patch like they wear back home.

Well, if a 14 year old can figure that out, I don't know what the hell is wrong with Banff.

But hey, while we're at it, why not ask if Hindus should be 'expected' to take communion, or if Buddhists should be 'expected' to contact their spirit guides.

If you have seen the mini series. "Into the West" there is a great quote that our country should adopt.

"We feed imigrants to our civilization; not our civilization to the imigrants."

Into the West is finally on TV here in Holland. Only the first episode (it comes in 5 episodes here) and I have seen a lot of Alberta :D

I've seen "Head smashed in Buffalo Jump", too. Well, the "jump" looked alright, but I don't remember the Grand Canyon below

I've said before, burqas aren't realy just Islmaic. We have our scaled-down version here--it' called a bra.

Scrappy @ Wed Jan 10, 2007 12:52 pm

The bra is an invention of the devil himself. Or are you talking about car bras?

Why do women wear bras anyway? Or when did this start? I never cared for them they always seem to get in my way. :P

I was referring more to the legal and moral requirement that woman cover her breasts. I can't think of any reasonable basis for it, so I guess it's just a throwback to the Puritan days of old--it's probably required for the same reason the burqa is.

I don't know why it's against the law for women to go topless.

(edit--lousy seplling)

Scrappy @ Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:55 pm

Most women wear them Clog to prevent their breast from hanging down to their knees in old age.

I feel no legal or moral compulsion to wear a bra, good grief have you seen the size of some of our young girls these days? I don't want that unleashed in Canada anytime soon.
