I suspect that the majority of us have heard the Mayan end time prophecies associated with the specific date 2012. I myself first heard about them in the 1980s Along with a number of other so called prophecies whose dire warnings failed to materialise.
Though I am not a subscriber to the possibility of any one particular cataclysmic event, I am also not so arrogant as to dismiss that possibility.
I present for those interested a very well done documentary and should you watch it, I would appreciate your comments or observations.

nope, more fear mongering, bullcapoop. You could make most of these arguments of these "signs" in any time period.
Interesting documentary none the less.
Reminds me of the movie i just watched, "The Mist", its kinda about end of days. I can just imagine all the nutty people like the crazy lady in the movie coming out of the woodwork for this. BTW that movie has a sad ending, its harsh.
Lets get it over with...
The Web Bot says we all gonna die!! Nevermind that it's been pre-programmed to look for certain things and all it does is interpret that the way the Programmers told it too.
It all makes for some good Ancient Science Fiction. We shouldn't let it control our lives in anyway though. That said, Dec 21 2012 will be anticipated by me with a mixture of "Just another day" and "What if it's my last day?".
"I have no clue", because I don't know... PROBABLY NOT, but "we never know, it MAY happen".
End-of-days stuff is fun for those who believe in it because when "the end" doesn't happen on a predicted date, they can always rely on another date that some other cult of insignificant half-wits has decided will really Really REALLY! be "the end". To wit, all the asshats who were in a frothing frenzy on the night of Dec 31, 1999 can now have the pleasure of wetting the bed on the night of Dec 12, 2021. It's all just good laughs for me. As an atheist it's nicely reassuring that the religious are guaranteed to provide me with all the free comdedy I'll ever hope to need.
I can't believe too much in to the date thing , but every 30 million years we go through the galactic belt getting better chances of getting hit by some asteroid.
Funny , the Mayans had calculation for huge numbers but apperently didn't have any for a handful or a dozen. It is believed their methods were handed down to them. They also said there were 4 other (i think) civilization before us. Which may explain many oddities in the timeline of our writen history.
