Yesterday at church I had the pleasure to meet two young ladies who are missionaries overseas.
Kristin De Porter is a missionary to the orphanges of Romania where she helps bring aid from America to the literally thousands of children housed in Romania's state run orphanages. My wife and I will be going to help out with the orphans later this year when we go on vacation - foregoing our usual vacation to Victoria.
The other young lady, whose name I will not post, is a missionary in Nigeria. She runs the Nigerian Christian outreach to the muslims of Nigeria and has converted several hundred muslims to Christianity. She came to church with some fliers with her picture on them and in several languages, including English, was a bounty of one million Euros for anyone who killed her. According to the young lady a Saudi of some note is responsible for this.
The girl is all of 24 years old.
I was deeply moved by her convictions and by her scholarly grasp of the koran. I asked her what she would do if someone tried to kill her and she raised her top a bit to show a hideous scar front and back where she was stabbed through with a spear and suffered a subsequent infection. She said she'd turned to her attempted assassin with the spear embedded in her torso and blessed him in the local language.
He apparently instantly regretted what he'd done and while in jail he allowed the young lady to see him and has since converted to Christianity.
She said if she needed to be stabbed again to save another muslim she'd do it. And if she died she'd be going to Heaven so that would be fine with her.
I only relate this all because I've never been particularly impressed with Christian missionaries, but I am with this one.
Very nice story Bart!!!
If you and your wife have a great experience, which i am sure you will, in Romania. I encourage you to look at Lotus Child in Mongolia as well. Wonderful people, great cause.

I dont think much of missionaries either.. the Salvation Army has missionaries.. they say they save bad girls.. so I called them up and asked them to save a few for me
This girl working in Nigeria is very courageous, especially when you consider that 50 thousand Christians have been killed in the 12 northern states from 2000 to 2006 where sharia law has officially been made the law of the land.
Sorry Satan, Christianity is still rocking the world !
When I was working in Somalia, religion was something I only discussed when someone asked me my beliefs, and then it was usually a comment of,'your soul is God's domain, mine is the classroom.' Trying to convert/persuade could get you deadified.
