U.S. pastor advocates abducting children from same-sex homes

$1:
An American pastor says children should be kidnapped from same-sex households, likening the freeing of children from gay parents to freeing slaves.
Bryan Fischer, spokesman for the Christian activist group the American Family Association, tweeted Tuesday, "We need an Underground Railroad to deliver innocent children."
With it, he linked to an article by a man who says growing up with two moms made him "confused."
"When your home life is so drastically different from everyone around you...you grow up weird," Robert Oscar Lopez wrote on the website of the right-wing Witherspoon Institute.
He blames his upbringing for making him a "social outcast" who has few friends, trouble fitting in at work and difficulty having a relationship with a woman.
In another tweet, Fischer linked to an article about a Mennonite minister who is on trial for helping a woman flee to Nicaragua with her daughter to get away from her former same-sex partner.
When @boopumpkins pointed out his suggestion "is called kidnapping and is illegal," Fischer replied, "So was the Underground Railroad."
He continued to defend his position throughout the day, despite many tweets deriding him.
A recent study suggested children of gay parents are much more likely to become pot smokers, unemployed, depressed, sexually victimized, sexually promiscuous and unhealthy. But many academics have criticized the study's methods, and one professor, Darren E. Sherkat of Southern Illinois University, said bluntly, "It's bulls---."
Just when you thought the religious right was as crazy as it could possible get, they find a way to step it up a notch.

We should take all the kids away from left handed parents too. I mean, only 10% of the population is left handed...
If there's evidence of child abuse then I agree with the pastor. *If*.

Explain what same sex parents and child abuse have to do with each other?

Someone needs to go to jail for that blanket statement.

He can say whatever he wants but if he takes any action to make it happen he can be prosecuted for conspiracy.

I understand he has a right. But he is making a blanket statement that will be interpreted by a number of people that aren't smart enough to tie their shoes, yet have the capability to be dangerous.

So fuck all the children that are abused by God fearing hetro couples? Many more of them, why not abduct them instead. And if there's abuse, why not just call social services?
This is just grandstanding by a hater.

You gonna bet your panties in a bunch about one gay couple abusing their kid, but ignore all the straight families where abuse happens. Pavlov much?
F*ck you, Andy. Brenda asked for a connection and I gave her one. Simple as that.
I'm also fine with rescuing kids from *any* abusive situation. Mind you, too, that I didn't side with this guy, I just said that if the kid is being abused then I'm fine with it.

Well as I say, it would keep this guy busy abducting all the kids abused in straight families, but he doesn't actually care about the kids, he just wants to fan the flames. If he wants to help abused kids, he would urge his parishioners to become foster families and work with social services to provide good homes to as many of these kids as possible. Maybe start with the abused kids that are sure to be among his congregation.

On this you're probably right. The only thing is that in the cases where same-sex couples have been accused of abuse the authorities have proven that they're not as eager to pursue those cases as they are when it involves kids from normal families.
Just tell a cop in the US that your neighbor was beating their kid and the SWAT team will be there minutes later and the kids will be removed from the home and it may be years before they're returned. Even if nothing happened.
With same-sex couples the reaction of the law is much different. For obvious political reasons no one wants to ruffle the feathers of the liberal community and you'll find that the authorites are very slow to react in those siturations unless the abuse is so obvious that it can't be ignored.
I know nothing of this pastor but I'm inclined to think he's an idiot like you say as a truly concerned person who was planning on doing such things would be wise enough to do so in secret.

Again, what do GAY parents and child abuse have to do with each other?
One gay couple abusing their son does not warrant the pastors "abduct all children from their gay parents". Unless he (and you) also say "abduct all children from their straight parents", because I am pretty positive that relatively, there are more straight couples abusing their (adoptive/step) children, than gay couples.

Good point AndyT, consider it tweeted!
