"Why I am Not a Christian"
Durandal Durandal:
Too easy c'mon !
I'm not sure what discussion you're pretending to have with me, but you're not understanding a single point being made in this thread.
Durandal Durandal:
$1:
I didn't say it was disrespectful at its core at all - I put for a personal opinion that if you believe in salvation and believe its only acheived through Christianity, you're not being respectful by being [in?]tolerant of other views.
LOL, and
that is pretty much the core of my faith.
You edited my text from "tolerant" to "[in?]tolerant" - I ment exactly what I wrote, and the fact that you still can't understand a simple concept after having it explained twice is pathetic and boring.
Durandal Durandal:
between the lines.
Your English skills are lacking anough that you should worry about the lines themselves before worrying about what's inbetween them.
Unless you can actually address something I've said in a manner that shows you can actually comprehend it, I'm not particularly interested in anything you have to say.

One area where we Christians have the atheists beat...
If we're wrong, no big deal.
If they are....
oops.
I LOVE Pascal's Wager?

I don't care about you. I made a constatation, lilly concurred and I'm sure other Christians did so without posting. Now if as an Atheist you disagree and decide to blubber and whimper, man... move on and don't make a fuss with such a little thing

I LOVE Pascal's Wager?

Do you now? Are you keeping kosher just to be sure?
Are you making certain you aren't offending any of the multitude of gods worshipped?
Make any offerings to Zeus lately. He is rather a jealous god. Me I prefer the Norse gods myself. Loads of drinking and womanizing.
Perhaps you are buying into the false dilema fallacy trap that Pascals wager falls into when it assumes that the christian god and mythos is the only choice A when non-belief is choice B.
What if all you christians are wrong and the muslims are right. You just spent your entire life praying to a false god for nothing and you will still end up in hell with us Atheists.
That would suck eh?
Actually I was just joking around.
I'm no longer a fundamentalist anymore...got some issues in my life that have caused me to re-evaluate my religion/spirituality.
I mostly focus on the message of Christ now and overlook the rest.
I will always believe in the founding belief that Christ live a human life on earth to die on the cross for our sins. But a lot of the other fundamentalist stances I had before are gone...

In other words you are also an Atheist. You just beleive in one more god then I do.
Now just remember that whatever it was that caused you to disbelieve in the fundemental aspects of your faith isn't all that different from why so many others complete the process.
lol, I may no longer be a fundamentalist but I am a hardcore theist and always will be

You need to examine what I said to you more closely.
Do you understand the logic?
I only believe their is one God though

In other words you don't believe in all the other gods humanity has worshipped over her history.
I too don't believe in all those gods as well as yours.
Hence you are an Atheist, except you just believe in one more god then I do.
In sddition, all the reasons you stopped being a fundie are likely the reasons loads of people stop believing altogeather.
You are almost there. Tough it out.

That was very brave of you to say that before you deleted the post. I had a nice reply I was working on but evidentily didn't quote you quick enough.
Your story is one I have heard before though.
Good luck confronting all the difficulty you will encounter concerining your situation.
I put no stock in god or religions. First religion was adopted to control civilization, then other religions spawned from that with the same characteristics as the first one. Every religion has many simularities with other religions, expecially with there savior.
Then there came science which explained evolution, and how the world was made and backed it up with proof. Don't get me wrong though, I believe in a afterlife. If you did research on it, you can find some really strong evidence for it. One thing is mediums, or whatever they are called. I forget there title. Most are fake, some are suspicious, but then there are some that are really good and can pin-point every single detail about you, your family, there looks, etc. I mean every single detail, and even voice private conversations that only you and a dead family member or friend would know.
Then you got neuro feedback which is somewhat of a more sciency version of proof for it, and mediums. They state that they possess a different level of frequencies in areas in the brain, a frequency that apparently connects with the dead.
There are also commited researchers to the whole idea, they had workers on the project to talk to the dead who died, and they got contacted by them. I forget the link to there site with all there research information, but it was filled with some pretty cool stuff.
Still, I will only put stock in a afterlife. I don't put stock in hell, god, or any religion. Buddhism I would probally put stock in, but not as a belief. There practices are very beneficial to the soul and mind, and practice peace instead of the typical hate that other religions generate.

LOL, I thought the same.
Just look at the way he's trying to convince the guy.
Not very different than any religious preacher.

Gotta love that "invent your own faith" mentality. You can't get to hell, but you still access to afterlife. Perfect to make you mentaly secure while at the same time takes away the need to follow any morals and doctrines, so life is a big party.

You've utterly failed to demonstrate where or how I or anyone else have been bullying or intimidating anyone. All I've done is point out the logical errors and dishonesty inherent in Pascal's Wager. If referring to faithful beliefs as "fairytales" constitutes bullying to you, you need to grow some thicker skin.

TOTAL nonsense.
No it's not - you're simply unable to comprehend the explanation I gave you.
I'm taking it for granted that if you believe in salvation, it's extremely important to you above all else - after all, what's more important than the eternal fate of your soul, and those of others?
In that light, being tolerant of the views of unfaithful heathens is nothing more than accepting their being doomed to whatever awaits them, and that's hardly a view that can be considered "respectful".
