I've done a fair bit of diving in my days, even ice diving and using heliox and trimix. However, I have no desire to ever go cave diving.

Closest I came to a cave dive was a reef that had a hole all the way through it. I have no desire to do the real thing either. Although I'd like to try the heliox and trimix.

OOooo I hear that. The very idea of cave diving gives me the "whillies".
I have a buddy that dives as part of a crew involved in underwater construction, demolition and salvage. He started out as a sport diver and instructor.
When I asked him if he ever thought about cave diving, he just said, "Yeah, like my job isn't dangerous enough".

Those ARE amazing photos though. God bless the lunatics that are brave crazy "adventurous" enough to give us these incredible views.

I was reading about a guy who was exploring a cave. Only enough room for him to go in at a 45 degree angle with his tanks in front of him. he was talking about how the top, bottom and sides were scraping at him and how he had to 'squeeze' and 'wiggle' , past some tight spots and bends. I had to stop reading because even that was freaking me out. Now I couldn't and wouldn't do that in a dry cave.....with a Gunnair's 'someone left the petting zoo unattended' sized bottle of lanolin.

That's the exact feeling I get as well. There's just something about the hole's size being so permanent and immoveable the bugs me. I've done many wreck interiors and didn't bother me in the least............but a tapering stone hole in the earth? NO THANKS!

I've done the "...tapering stone hole in the earth", but underwater, no way!!!

I've got a buddy that does it. I like caving myself. Taking it up again this year actually, after a break. But cave diving--never!
