David Suzuki ripped in Australia for being a “phony and know
What about Ezra? Where does he reside in this pantheon?

Nope, it just makes you a self-important, self-serving douche bag.
Pretty harsh indictment. Seems like you expect the guy to live a monk's existence. Sounds more like income envy than any logic-based criticism.
Sounds like you're having a hard time being objective when it comes to Mr. Suzuki. Very cute to see you coming to his defence.

No, but they are pretty much equivalent to the evangelical preacher that screams sex out of wedlock is the path to Hell but then they themselves get caught with a hooker or rent-boy. Talk the talk ya better walk the walk, or STFU if you can't.

Exactly. And now we've determined that, can we move back to the actual debate at hand--global warming and what to do about it.

I'm pretty sure he's in the "self-important douchebag" category with Al and Dave.

But the message the preacher was giving--that a strong moral code is key to spiritual fulfillment--continues to be true despite the rpeacher's actions.

But it's a false equivalency to compare scientific consensus with religious dogma. And if we compared Suzuki's actions/lifestyle to others with similar income/wealth/celebrity, I suspect he is walking the walk.

No, but it borders on religious dogma when the proponent deliberately demonizes his opponents as irredeemably evil and that they're out to destroy the entire world in the name of monetary profit. And when the only solution offered amounts to no more than "shut down at least 95% of all human activity - right now, this very minute - or else", it stops being a conversation and just another exercise in pedantic orthodoxy. Less quality time would be wasted in trying to engage a Scientologist in meaningful discussion than it is in talking to one of the Earth Mother types. But that's usually true in anything where the ones promoting something are also the ones least likely to be affected by it in any meaningful way if it were ever to be implemented.

You're exaggerating. Suzuki's a harmless celebrity mouthpiece. His environmentalist message is about on par Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod's advocacy for personal fitness. The only difference is there isn't a lunatic bunch of "fitness deniers" polluting the intertwine with their craziness. And I'm sure Hal and Joanne crank a cheeseburger once in a while.
Don't think Hal or Joanne have ever called for the jailing of couch potatoes or proponents of low carb diets.
Was bored. So watched the entire thing, that Ezra looks like the Canadian version of Glenn beck. As for Suzuki, just another wanker on the green gravy train that also brings me to something I've always pondered about
These people and by that I mean the climatologists, green companies and aforementioned wankers etc etc need global warming to happen they would be jobless and all these green tech companies out of businesses and in the hole for a lot of money, which again cast another doubt on their already shaky credibility.

Nothing.
Next!

Which is the accepted term these days, global warming or climate change?
I'd rather address air and water pollution versus the average earth temperature changing half a degree or so either way.

Global Warming. Climate changes all the time.
No, non, nyet! We can't address the pollution problem, because it might accidently make a better world while also solving the global warming problem that isn't actually a problem.
