Kind of neat, but not worthy of a news article: The UltraVista telescope (http://www.ultravista.org/) in Chile just realeased a composite image of the 6,000 long term exposure photos it took of the night sky.
It shows nearly 200,000 galaxies in the hires picture.
WARNING! It's a friggen huge file - +200MB so it may kill your computer to open it in a browser.
