Aquygen™ Gas: Hybrid Hydrogen Car

   

It's not running on energy from water - it takes energy (electricity) to seperate hydrogen and oxygen, and then all he's doing is burning them together to create heat - that process generates less energy than is put in.

The water is just a middleman - it's like he's claiming the wheels are driving his car, not the engine.

   

Did you see last week where this Japanese company jumped on the water-powered car bandwagon with an actual, they-look-to-be-commercially-available car? It's been getting a lot of media play on the internet. Here's a link -

It's frustrating, when fuel goes up, all the snake oil salesmen come out.

   

I have been thinking of putting some sails on our minivan.
The only thing is, we would have to redesign the road system in our country to allow for tacking when going against the wind.
This will take some considerable petitioning of the government.

One should step back and think, "Gee, I wonder how this basic thermodynamic property of the most abundant liquid on the planet was overlooked," before falling for these "miraculous invention" stories.

Yeah, I know it doesn't make sense, and all, and the best argument against it is ever since I can remember somebody's claiming to have a water-powered car, yet nobody's ever selling one. Still...what drives these guys, I wonder. Is there any sincerity at all? Is it all a scam, or is there something there that shows promise, so they exaggerate?

I know that one guy (the one who they claim was killed by the oil companies) was sued by investors. You'd think you'd hear more of that. There's so many of these "I've gotta water-powered car" guys around. These Japanese guys are playing a dangerous game, because it sounds like they've actually incorporated as a company. Also that guy in the video that started this thread, he's got a company now too. But he's just selling the welding tool then waving the water-powered car like an illusory carrot on a stick. So if he gets sued because it turns out not to be energy efficient he can always say, "Yeah but look at how well the welder cuts."

That air-powered car is interesting. They say the problem there is the energy required to compress the air. Still...cheaper than gas from a user's perspective now, and if it caught on, you could go nuclear. I wonder about that one. Looks good on the video, but then again they always do, then you check into them, and not so much.

   

You can't get energy from water when your byproduct is water. No energy gain. Conservation on energy. Please, don't believe in this false hope. It will only cost you your money and the health of your car.

   

Those Air Powered Vehicls are cool.

   

They catalize water using an Aluminum oxide reaction. So, they do split water to make hydrogen to run the car.

But making aluminum (and the agent to keep the reaction going) are very electricity intensive operations. There is no net-energy gain, they are simply moving the energy where the energy is needed from the aluminum smelter to the car.

It's no different than the air-powered car - the electricity is stored as compressed air (becoming a 'battery'), moving the energy production to a power plant and away from the car.

It's not a bad thing, but they are being dishonest about some things - like the car is not 'water powered'.

   

Always wondered about what kind of mileage boost from running an air intake between the carb and the driver's seat. Then just change the national diet to include lots of 'bubble & squeak', beans, draught beer & pickled eggs.....
