Ok everyone it is that time of year again!!!

It is the biggest sporting event in North America, over 5000 athletes, competing for a medal. It is the second largest Dragonboat Festival outside of Hong Kong, well surprisingly its in Vancouver

But the best part about it is it is free!!!

This is a sport that anyone can do, regardless of age or ability. If anyone thinks they cant, just take a look at the CNIB boat, the Mental Health, Kidney, Cancer etc boats!!!

Come out and watch and support us all!!!

Dragon Boat Festival was over and finished weeks ago here. It was a four day holiday.

I was a spare on a team this year, went to 3-4 practices but I'm not around for the actual race. Definitely quite the workout.

so I raced in six races today....we got third in a cup final. Everyone is excited about that, but me being the competitive one wanted first. But seriously it was a photo finish race and we all finished within fractions of a second. They needed replay to determine who won.

I still need to give props, again, to our Women and Men in the CF. The Army for erecting our tent city and our Navy for keeping some peace on the water. God knows us Dragonboaters can reek some havoc...no seriously it is to keep losers out of our racing lanes and save our asses if we go overboard.

So THANK YOU for sponsoring us and supporting us....and I have to say some of those boys on the water...HOLY!!!!! [drool] [drool] [drool] [drool] Props to the recruiters as well

Now the big Race is tomorrow...I dont want to race six races tomorrow, my knee cant handle it, but I can

The course is 500metres, I think.....I never really want to know.

The Gemini boat is 41 feet long and we have a max of 20 paddlers. The most important thing about racing is stamina and teamwork...without this you lose.

"Max" of 20? So you could go with less if ya want?

Or do they have to show up by the 70 meter mark?

(sorry - too many summers doing the "parking lot stare" waitin for ball players to show up by the 7th inning  )

   ....You can and do often go with less....Pisses me off though, because that is when it hurts bad. I could be wrong but The Rio Tinto is either 500 or 1000 metres....I should find out

If your team isnt in the marshalling area when they call you....the team goes without the teammates or they are disqualified.
