How come mountain biking isn't one of the major forum topics? We have three of the four mountain bike Mecca’s of the world in our country and we have world class riders coming from our hills.

That is great question. I was lucky enough to mountain bike in B.C. a bunch of times, Hartland Landfil in victoria and in the Comox valley. There are places in Canada that are off the maps that are better than most place's anywhere in the world..
Mountain biking rules..Except when you seperate your shoulder...OUCH

Those are pretty nice pictures....I like to get out, not downhilling like yourself, but for the cardio. A friend of mine always told me, "if you cannot ride up it, you shouldn't ride down it" and I pretty much go by that.I try to ride to the top so I can rest coming down. Also, do you fall alot?? you have some padding on there....LOL
Have you riden anywhere's else in Canada? There is a place about an hour north of Toronto called Hardwood hills and it is a pretty good spot. Also the Simcoe forest just down the road from Hardwood is FREE and fantastic......

RIDE HARD

pfffffft, I also ride or push my bike up in mission or northshore, but these downhill bikes are too heavy. plus you spend 2 hours riding up and 20min riding down, lol
At the lift access ski mountains you ride for 8 hours and get SOOOO much more riding in. Plus most the trails i ride down, you can't ride up, heh

I am getting fairly good so I fall less, but yes i do fall. This summer i superman'ed over the handlesbars at least 3 times, the body armour comes in very handy.

I've only ridin in the Vancouver area, Kamloops, Vernon, Nanaimo and Hood River Oregon.

I took a fall while cross a set of railway track in August. I landed on the handle bars and busted several ribs. Sometimes I think going for a little flight might be better and safer.

LOL I know what you mean with the 2 hrs up, 20 minutes down, but I like that better than hucking myself off shit. I fall to much too, but I am pretty stubburn and won't put on body armor. I attach myself to my bike and when I went over the handle bars, my bike landed on my and I separated my should...3 time and one more it is surgery and selling of my bike (my wife has told me...LOL)
Northshore riding, you have riden places most of us can only see on tv. I am envious......

Yah i'm not tat big into doing all the big jumps, I'm more into riding technical stuff and steep trails.

Frak, if i'm going down i totally let the bike go, landing on the bike or it landing on you is usualy worst.

Hehe i know i'm super lucky to have probably some of the best Skiing and Mountain biking in the world in my backyard.

I wanna get a 2nd bike to do more cross-country stuff. I wanna do a trip to utah and maybe peru in a few years.

coltsrmint2 @ Fri Oct 30, 2009 5:43 pm

Peru would be awesome. You live close to the island, try getting over and ride in Hartland landfil. Super technical and some pretty steep stuff too. Mount Washington in the Comox valley is really good too. Hit the bike shop in Cumberland and they will set you on some really good tracks...

I'm an amateur rider, some nice trails in the Gatineau Hills where I live. I went out last weekend, planning on doing the same tomorrow and explore a little more.
