Leafs officially announced the signing this morning:):):)

   

I think he'll do well. Ferguson's main priority is to tighten the blue line. We have McCabe, Marchment, Berg, and others but somehow I think that's not enough. Svehla isn't back this season, Wesley decided to go back to the Hurricanes....and Housley was just useless. Belak got bumped up to a forward. So we need some hardcore blue liners who'll prevent the puck from getting to Belfour, who's already more than able to keep the pucks out. That was our downfall last season against Philly in the playoffs. Defence gave up. Marchment'll solve a bit of that problem, but we need to go all out here. As far as forwards go, we're great. Mogilny, Sundin, Nolan...it's a triple threat right there. Belak is starting to score some goals too.

   

If fergeson Jr is anything like his dad, he'll be ok... I used to love watching his Dad when he played for Montreal... What an intense player he was.. allways giving 110% for the team... also a very tough guy too

   

Unless they acquire some high-profile talent it will be the same story as always.

   

They don't even have to be high profile. We just need people who can score, and people who can prevent the other team from scoring. Matt Stajan looks promising. He scored against Brodeur once, and nearly twice in his first NHL game. Kyle Wellwood is good too, and keeps himself out of the penalty box -- something many of the Leafs have a hard time doing. We need Tucker still given'r out there, and checking like he always does, because that'll take some of the steam out of the other team. That'll make it a little easier for the defencemen to keep up, but we need big, tough blueliners like Marchment. Ones that aren't afraid to get hit *cough*kaberle*cough*.

....Although it would always be nice to pick up Dejardins...or Chris Pronger. (In my dreams)

   

Therein lies the rub. All these players are just "promising".

Most prospects don't pan out.

   

Eh, well some of the greats were originally prospects at one point or another. I'm sure at least one of these guys will do good things for the team. And I have my money on Stajan.

   

I sure hope you're right. I read about that woman who started a protest in front of the AC centre a couple months ago.
