I don't know if you could consider it a sport, but whatever.

Does anyone here skydive? I want to go sometime, I plan on doing it sometime before the end of July. I haven't been researching it enough, but I am looking for places around the Ottawa region that will teach people to sky dive. Anyway, anyone experienced in this sort of stuff, and sky diving in particular, have any tips for me? Or suggested places to go to?

You may want to cherck in thePetawawa area as the base was the airbornes HQ at one time and there are still quite a number of purple berets around there still plus they know what they are doing... We caslled it parachuting, not sky diving.. when I hear skydive I think jump from a plane and go straight into the ground..Also there is a member here who is qualified (jump qualified) and is in your area.. im in edmonton..if I recall he may be able to help you

Make sure you pull the zip cord before you hit the ground.

Hey RH, what's the member's name? I'd love to get in touch with whoever that is lol. I've been checking out the Canadian Sport Parachuting Ass. at http://www.cspa.ca/ and they have a member group, the Ontario Military Sport Para. Club, that is in my area. I figured I may as well email them and inquire about first time jumpers and the services they offer but I'm not too sure. The term 'military' in there makes me think it's CF only.

Thanks though RoyalH!

And Tman1, I'm not that inexperienced! :D

Burn? I think some piece of equipment will go missing.

Hmmm, guess the Military Club is non-existant now. I've been looking at going with one group, but it is fairly expensive, which I guess could be expected. So far, the price for a solo-first time jump is $250 and to become a qualified jumper you have to complete the solo jump, plus take a $750 course. Meh, it'll be something to save up for over the summer.
