Anybody think this "new" league will take off? Our local team, the Halifax IceBreakers have to sell 7,000 tickets per game to break even. At a cost of up to $70.00 a ticket, I don't know too many people who can afford season tickets.

I'm not too sure about the logo either....a friggin fisherman with a hockey stick? C'mon now, that's just TOO stereotypical....and not very original either if I remember the Islanders attempt at a fresh look a few years ago..........

Is is me or are they really friggen jumping the gun with this. What if there is a NHL season... or even a season with replacement players. And what happens to the WHA the next year when there is a season? The reason it couldnt last before was because it had to compete with the NHL. MIAMI???? who the hell gives miami a hockey team... and most of these cities have major junior(AHL,QMJHL, OHL,WHL) that they will also need to support when they also have a WHA team. Has anyone remembered that we can still watch the Jr. teams??? Im sticking with the Kingston Frontenacs, and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles next year...

I don't think the new league will last too long. There are already too many NHL teams and the tallent is getting watered down, what grade of players will the new league have?

CFL rulz, your right about about supporting our junior teams. They need peoples butts in the seats and the hockey is pretty damn good. I don't live in a town that has a WHL team, but Prince George has the Cougars and they're only a little over an hour away and I've been to a few of their games.

PS: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, now thats a hockey name..... 8)

Yeah, the islanders went with "the Gorton fisherman" look. Mercifully they went back to their classic uniforms after their fans went berserk.

If Derek Sanderson jumps to the new league, it's a gimme.

Lots of sports posts here from folks who would usually be watching a hockey game.
Didnt anyone watch Canada kick Russias ass today in the juniors?
Not bad hockey.
Fast paced, fairly clean and the best part was it was hockey.

That post wound up on the wrong topic but I didn't have time to wait the 2 minutes for each page to load to find the topic about the Juniors. :D
