Damn staight, USA better beat Slovenia.

Luongo to see action against Slovenia

The Hoser @ Sun May 01, 2005 7:39 pm

It's going to be a great tournament, especially with Canada and the USA in the same pool. I'd have to hope that the reffing is alot bttr then U-18's, that was some of the worst refing I've ever seen. Finger crossed :D

I think that Canada plays Slovenia next on tuesday, should be an easy victory. Hope we can net ourselves some easy goals!! I think I know what team is going to be eliminated from the pool... (Slovenia!)

GO TEAM CANADA!

Canuckelhead @ Sun May 01, 2005 10:22 pm

European Officials are the worst. Hockey is not soccer, diving is not allowed! and hitting to hard is not a penalty! Terrible reffs.
If the US wins another one i am gonna lose it, first the women then the under 18's (although the canadians were missing a few top under 18's, Crosby being one) and the women lost in a shootout, the worst way to have a championship decided. They had no goals scored on them in regulation during the tournament and they did not win gold :?

Canada should kill the Solevnians

dennis_is_canadian @ Sun May 01, 2005 10:47 pm

Yeah, I expect nothing short of a big win on Tuesday. But I want Luongo to be put in net for a game. Luongo is my favorite goaltender and Brodeur did not do good vs Latvia.

The reffing, yeah it sucks. So much diving and rediculous calls for no reason. I sometimes complain about NHL reffing but when you see how European refs do their job, you beg for a NHL ref.

Canada will not lose to the U.S in this tournament. The Under 18 team was slapped together with the best available players since alot were in the CHL play-offs. And the U.S had a excellent team this year. But Canada is taking this tournament. Just put in my goalie and let Nash and Thornton do their job.

Wow, was their really any doubt? However their first real test will be on Thurs against the U.S. Should be pretty good and even.

canucker @ Tue May 03, 2005 5:13 pm

Yeah, the only real competition for them.

The Hoser @ Tue May 03, 2005 5:13 pm

lol, I can't wait for Thursday! Canada Vs The US. We beat the Slovenians 8-0, and the Americans only won 7-0. Pussies... Anyway, it should be a good game. I agree Luongo is a better goalie then Brodeur, but I like both :D Thorton, Nash, and Smyth should be able to total the US defense!!! I'm staying home on Thursday just to catch the game lol... Canada VS US games = Religious holiday.

canucker @ Tue May 03, 2005 5:16 pm

Have you seen the shots on goal?

$1:
Canada outshot the awe-struck Slovenes 56-12, including 14-0 in the third period.

How is Luongo a better Goalie than Brodeur? Luongo may have more low key world Championships but Brodeur has more high level championships under his belt (Salt Lake Gold Medel, 2004 Championships) Also he has WAAY more playoff as well as Stanley Cup experience than Luongo. Dont get me wrong I like Luongo too but cmon stats isnt just on paper for nothing. Any goalie can get a shutout against slovenia I mean Rick Dipietro and Conklin????

The Hoser @ Tue May 03, 2005 5:20 pm

Ya, but... Ya... I like Brodeur, he's a better goalie and all, I just think that before long Luongo will become better! The same way as Brodeur played backup in his first championship (For Joseph?) I think Luongo will surpass Brodeur soon enough :D

Brodeur is the best goalie out there, but he's getting older. Luongo will be next.

The Hoser @ Tue May 03, 2005 5:26 pm

I still think Khabibulan is the best goalie out there right now... But Theodore will always be my favourit, even if he has gotten kinda... or maybe it's cos the Habs defense sucks ass

dennis_is_canadian @ Tue May 03, 2005 11:06 pm

Martin Brodeur is the best goalie in the world, but I have never been a huge, huge fan of his. I like him, but Im a Luongo fan, the guy works hard every game he plays for Florida, has the record for most saves in a season and has shown up for Canada when asked. Brodeur will pass the torch so to speak to Luongo, but I think Brodeur will get the start from here on.

As for Thursday, the Americans will be a test but Nash and Thornton will be tearing it up. And once Heatley and Smyth get going, watch out! USA beat Latvia 3-1 and Canada beat Lativa 6-4. Canada had 3 more goals for but also had 3 more goals against. If Brodeur plays like he did in the last game, then Canada is going to be in deep. But if he plays up to his standards, U.S.A will have nothing on Canada. The U.S goaltending is Conklin and DiPietro, lol.

Just think, N.Y Islanders could have had both Luongo and Heatley but opted for a trade and a first round pick of Rick DiPietro.

Finally decent hockey in this time zone. 8)

Tonight: Sweden & Finland will be hitting the ice. These two teams, when playing ... have always stop both the countries & millions are gluded to the TV.

Of course, My daughter & I are pulling for CANADA & my husband & our son pull for Sweden. 8)
