I'm pretty OS agnostic. I use Linux/OS/400 and Windows 98/2000/XP at work. I use a mix of Fedora, FreeBSD and older Red Hat (7 & 9) at work.

At home I have a good firewall/router combo and I use Windows XP on 1 box, Fedora Core on another, Red Hat 9 on another.

I use Slackware 9.1. For me, the best part about switching to Linux was becoming part of the whole FOSS community (Free and Open Source Software). Linux empowers the user by putting all the knowledge and tools into your hands. Linux doesn't lock you down into meaningless upgrades and subject you to advertisements. The Linux community mirrors the Vive community in a way--think for yourself, learn to do things your own way. (Though the tech community seems to be more libertarian than leftist--much like Dr. Caleb :-)

As for Linux games, there are some free, open source games that fill the trigger finger need if you have one.

Check out Freeciv which is open source version of Sid Meier's Cilivization.

PrBoom a port of the Doom 2 1st-person shooter.

The hilarious Dopewars.

And for those wargamers--Lgeneral a port of the popular Panzer General wargame.

Thanks for the links, Action.

Also, you cleared something up re: Dr. Caleb. I was working under the mistaken assumption that he was a libertine (as is readily apparent, words just confuse me sometimes...too many whacks on the noggin suffered from overly demanding teachers in reform, I mean, grade school as a result of my inability to correctly spell Sascachewon, or whatever.).
Also, you cleared something up re: Dr. Caleb. I was working under the mistaken assumption that he was a libertine
Aren't libertines a type of cracker? (just kidding, though I hadn't known the actual definition until now).

I've been using linux as my primary OS since 1998, I prefer Debian and Knoppix. I've used most of the other distros in the past.
