You know what I'd do, create a national Flag Day, even though it wasn't Pearson's design that was chosen! Thank God his was just another Red, White and Blue! I mean how unoriginal (and un Canadian) is that? Choosing what America, France, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Russia and about a zillion other countries use!

I would open the activities of CSIS and the RCMP to public.
The creation of an oversight committee made up of citizens, whom have been falsly imprisioned, with teeth to order criminal charges.

remove the legal loophole that prevents Judges from being called to give evidence.

Manditory maximium sentences for police and crown prosecutors whom are found to have committeed perjury, or participated in perjury.

If the crime carries a life sentence then, manditory mnaximium would be life sentences for perjury.

Dennis Baker

dbaker, your intent to have an accountable justice system is admirable. My opinion is that any employee of the justice system (judges, police officers, lawyers, etc) ought to have absolute respect for the law, whether they believe in the law or not. It's absolutely hypocritical for a police officer to be able to get away with crimes that he/she would arrest a normal citizen for. For that reason, police officers, judges, lawyers, etc, should be subject to zero-tolerance for intentionally breaking the law.

This is especially important for abuse-of-power cases. If a police officer knowingly uses his/her position of power to the harm of a regular citizen, he/she should automatically have his/her badge revoked and charges laid, with increased penalties due to the abuse-of-power and consequent loss of public faith in the justice system.

An example of this would be the judge in Prince George, BC, who raped young teenaged girls who he knew were very vulnerable, as they had previously passed through his courtroom.
