The more effort I put into getting the message across the more I am beginning to realize that we are doomed. We have supposed political journalists who simply dismiss my call to action and others who do not even reply. We also have MP's assistants and staff who have no clue about the issue and rather than doing their own research or following my links they are more concerned with 'which constituency I reside in'! we cannot forward your information without you first providing us with your mailing address. I mean, what the hell is going on?

Emailed 306 MPs again today. Check this out:

My original MESSAGE

Hello - Bonjour,

I just have a couple of questions.

1. Concerning the SPP, the North American Union and Deep Intigration; what is your position on this issue?

2. In the SPP, explain what are these regulatory bodies that are being put in place by unnamed ministries and how does that fit with constitutional government?

J'ai juste un couple des questions.

1. Mr. Lee appreciates you taking the time to contact our office regarding North American Union and Deep Integration. What is "SPP?"

Mr. Lee replies to the correspondence of, and exchanges views with, all his constituents. Please understand that Libby receives hundreds of email, letters, calls and faxes everyday. She is not able to answer all of this correspondence so it is important that priority is given to the constituents she represents, and her critic area.

I can tell you the NDP has continually challenged, first the Liberal and now the Conservative government's policies of deeper integration with the United States. The NDP was instrumental in stopping Canada signing on to Missile Defence, has called for a review of Canada's treaties, and recently denounced the government for its secret Security and Prosperity talks.

As for your second question, the NDP is not the government and certainly can't defend or explain these practices. If you are a constituent of Libby's and would like to elaborate your concerns, Libby would be glad to forward them to Minister Stockwell Day, on your behalf.

Kind regards,

Leanne Holt
Office of Libby Davies

*************

Dear Chris Harder,

Thank you for our email.

Could you please provide us with your full mailing address?

Thanks again for contacting our office.
Darlene M. But as I mentioned, it's not possible to respond to and act on the hundreds of pieces of correspondence we receive each day. So, an MPs first obligation is to their constituency - those they were elected to represent.

Thanks for bringing your concerns to Libby's attention.

Regards,

Leanne

RE: Hi Leanne Holt,

I can certainly appreciate what you are stating in the first paragraph. However, since when is a Canadian citizen not allowed to address MPs from across Canada?

I'm happy to read your confirmation that the NDP is working against this issue. I already know that MP Peter Julian certainly is and have been in touch with his office on this subject.

Quite frankly I don't understand how our MPs stand by and allow unelected people to be formed into Ministries (working groups) and then these people in turn creating Regulatory Bodies that supersede our courts. This is exactly why I am bringing this issue to your attention.

Thanks for your reply,

Chris Harder

*************

Notice how 'appreciative' they all are? There has to be a more effective way of getting the news out to Canadian people.
I wish Mel Hurtig would take over the NDP and become leader. Then we wouldn't have to worry about not hearing about this deep intergration. If he were running for PM he would focus his entire election campagin on educating Canadians on what is really going on with our country.

I truly dream about Mel Hurtig being our Prime Minister... it would be so wonderful to live in a Canada that is actually independent!!
This one was really funny, NOT!

Dear Chris,

I receive some 350 e-mails per day from my constituents on issues that are important to them. I have no personal expertise on the subject you have asked about (SPP, The North American Union, Deep Integration) and therefore no comment to offer except that you would be wise to broaden your reading beyond “fringe” web pages containing “expert” op-ed pieces by far left thinkers.

You are a constituent of Minister Day’s riding. If you want an answer to your questions, contact him.

Information and opinions from any source should be taken in, chewed carefully, but not necessarily swallowed.

Sincerely,

Betty Hinton, MP
Kamloops – Thompson – Cariboo

These are our elected leaders who "have no personal expertise..." What a sick joke they are.

Send her the FINA link and tell her to educate herself. On second thought, we should all send her a list of links and tell her to educate herself.
I can appreciate an MP's need to keep the e-mail flow to a dull roar, and therefore their desire to only receive e-mail from their direct constituents but I'm sure that some people in the Kamloops riding would have asked her about the SPP/NAU.
You're doing a great job Chris, on behalf of all Canadians and I thank you for your efforts. Keep your chin up bud, you're not alone!
Wow! I am not surprised by the responses but I am sickened. The responses from Libby's assistant were most interesting. It's interesting because I used to be in her riding, yet she sends me stuff to my workplace which is not in her riding. Letters like all MPs send out stating what a great job they are doing. So it is convenient for her to send out mailing to my work but not convenient to hear our conerns.

If an MP is ignorant about NAU or SPP then the people should fire him/her.
Got another reply today...lol!

Dear Mr. Harder,

On behalf of Mr. Williams, thank you very much for your email.

I believe that you are referring to the Security and Prosperity Partnership which was a public/government initiative regarding North American integration of certain aspects between Canada, the United States and Mexico. It was facilitated by the Council on Foreign Relations (a US Think Tank) and chaired by John Manley as well as a Chair from the US and Mexico.

While I have not had the opportunity to ask Mr. Williams whether he has a position on any aspects of the SPP, since it was basically just a public policy recommendation to all three governments.

I noted your comment, however, that the ministries involved are "unnamed" - and that is not the case.

In order to provide you with some background information, I am appending a link to the Prime Minister's website, which contains his speech of 31 March 2006 (from Cancun) where the leaders of the three countries agreed to advance the agenda of SPP, focusing on five high priority initiatives (which are outlined) http://www.pm.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=1084

In addition, I am appending the link to the Foreign Affairs website http://geo.international.gc.ca/cip-pic/ ... cy5-en.asp which outlines Canada's international policy statement regarding the SPP

I do hope that you may find this information regarding the SPP and its mandate helpful.

Yours truly,

Debra Bain, Manager
Constituency Affairs

Office of John G. Williams, Member of Parliament
Edmonton-St. Albert
Tel: (780) 459-0809
Fax: (780) 460-1246
Email: [email protected]

What useless bullshit.
McDonough is the foreign affairs critic so all matters of foreign affairs should be her concern. I have found her quite useless on such issues tho
Brent
Bonjour Mr. Harder,

First, I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to you email. The Fall session has been extremely busy in the House of Commons and as you might be aware, the Justice agenda has been quite hectic.

As you are surely aware, the SPP was signed by the Canadian government, under the leadership of Paul Martin. I believe the SPP could be a very positive opportunity for Canada. Over the past decade, our country, as well as Mexico and the United States, have taken important steps to expand economic opportunity for our people and to create the most vibrant and dynamic trade relationship in the world. Since September 11, 2001, we have also taken significant new steps to address the threat of terrorism and to enhance the security of our people. Canada and the USA are partners in the defence and security of North America and also remain committed to joint defence through the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America will help develop new avenues of cooperation between our nations. These opportunities will not only concern security but also prosperity through growth, competitiveness and quality of life.

As for your question regarding regulatory bodies put in place by unnamed ministries, it might be important to note the SPP actually aims at creating ministerial-led groups, lead by democratically elected ministers of Canada, United States and Mexico. These ministers have the responsibility to report to their respective government within 90 days of tabling reports. Since these ministers are elected and their identity is known, I do not see any constitutional problematic situation in the current way the SPP proceeds. When was this election?

I believe Canadians want a sophisticated relationship where Canadians are confident and secure enough to raise certain issues with their neighbour, a relationship based on fair and acceptable treatment between two sovereign nations. Yeah right well it's still GLOBALISM to me.

Sincerely,

Brian Murphy, MP
Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe

Some say that Canadians would be apathetic and accept it passively. All Canadians? 1% of Canadians is 300,000 Canadians, enough to a revolt of major porportions, and make yanks fell it suicidal to set foot on canadians soil. I don't hink US minutemen along the US southern border would be apathetic in accdeting it either.
Brent
Sorry for the typos. Time on this library computer was running out fast.
Given the hot debate over illegal Mexican immigrants in the US I believe it would be extremely naive for anyone to think that they could just eliminate the borders without a major political revolt in both the US and in Canada.
Tell those fanatic US minutemen that they can simply go home, you've lost your battle and the borders are open now, so just go back to your couches and TV sets and forget the whole thing.
Enough Canadians would react very strongly to oppose letting unlimited number of yanks simply walk into Canada and take over our jobs.Given that some major employers in Canada are US owned corporations, yanks would be given first priority for good jobs and Canadians would simply be left the crumbs from their tables. Victoria BMW is doing this right now, with Canadian immigration turning a blind eye.
US citizenship will become a mandatory requirement for getting anything but a minimum wage job in Canada. Anyone easily identifiable as a yank on Canadian soil would be a sitting duck for any pissed off Canadian who lost his lifetime job for not being a yank.
Any such attempt to eliminate borders would thus be very short lived, and come to a violent and sudden end.
Brent
