I'm leaving on Friday for almost a month and a half of travels. ME and my new wife are going to Thailand for a month, but first were going to PA & New York for a week.
Anyway, I haven't really planned much in Thailand yet, besides a 14 day tour for part of it, the rest of the time were pretty much winging-it. I figured I would post here to see if anyone here has been to Thailand and has any suggestions.
We have 4 days in Bangkok before the tour starts, so we will have lots to do in the city. See the temples and shop a bit, go on a full day bike tour to the country side. But I need to find a place to stay, there are SOO many hotels and so many different areas of the city to stay, I can't decide. Any experiences with that would be great.
Our tour is going to be pretty cool I think, its with Intrepid, which is small group tours for young people. I think there is less than 8 ppl on the tour, its not full. We go to river Kwai, kayaking, waterfalls, ride elefants, visit tons of wats, 3 day trek in the mountains and so on. After the tour the plan is to head to the south, probably fly and somehow get to Ko Phi Phi, which i'm told is the best island to goto, by several people, including my parents. Almost everyone I've talked to hates phuket. But I might fly to phuket and goto Phi Phi for a few days then to Phang Nga Bay for kayaking.
I had planned to also goto Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. From the reading i've done going overland through Cambodia and the border can be a nightmare, but could be a fun adventure. We will probably fly though and do a bike tour. We'll see how much time we have, we might just stay in the south until we have to leave.
Anyway if anyone has any tips, lemme know!

I've been to Phuket. I think it is an awesome island.
Why do people hate it so much?
Pssst dude, can you sneak me back some Thai-stick?
Seriously though, this is freaky..I'm watching a show right now about Angkor Wat called Ultimate Engineering.
I was there 20 years ago, when the lady-boys were still lady-boys and the women were still women... I think it depends on where on the island you are too...
Just stay out of the three southern provinces and have a safe and fun trip!
Ask Shep.....
I've only done the family vacations there really....so it was at the touristy places near Phuket. The last two times we were there we stayed at the Phi Phi Island Village Resort( Loh Bagao) and the Mama Beach Residence(Phi Phi Don village. Both were quiet places, good for couples and families who aren't the party til you puke sorts.
Well hop on a fricking bus then, how far is it from your home in Bangladesh?
Theres a lot to do in Thailand. 2-3weeks is comfortably good.
My sister spent about 3-4 months in Thailand working with orphans and amputees. She loved the place. I'll ask her for any ideas. I know she spent time in Pattaya, but can't remember what she said about it. She did also like phuket, but mentioned how touristy it was.
I've wanted to go myself ever since she went, but was waiting to have a gf or wife to go with causes I know what people say when single guys go there... Let us know what it's like as a couple.
Despite the fact Trevor has been back for almost 2 years... For the women, it doesn't matter if you are a couple or not. If you are willing to pay, they are willing.
I went to Phuket (20 years ago tho...) with my then boyfriend, and the ladies were more hitting on me than on him.
It was the 'stache
