PF arrests suspect of sending children illegally to US

Minors were sent with adults so that they would not be deported if they were arrested. PF says that about 30 children are illegally sent to the country each year.

The Federal Police (PF) arrested on Wednesday (18) a man responsible for sending Brazilian children and adolescents clandestinely to the United States. According to the PF, about 30 children were sent each year from 2016 to the USA.

The suspect was arrested in Ji-Paraná (RO), in the Central Region of the state, through the 3rd phase of Operation Pirates of the Caribbean. PF also tries to arrest a second suspect who works as a coyote in the Bahamas to help take the children illegally.

According to the PF, the perpetrator sent minors to the US using the scheme known as "Cai Cai", ie, illegally entering the US with children or adolescents. The tactic is used so that these adults are not immediately deported, but that, with the policy of zero tolerance of the American immigration, implies in the separation of parents and children.

The first phase of Pirates of the Caribbean was made in January 2017, when the PF dismantled a Brazilian branch of a criminal organization that illegally transports Brazilians abroad, mainly to the United States via the Bahamas.

The PF is also seeking more information on the disappearance of 12 Brazilians in November 2016 as they attempted to cross the ocean through the Bahamas / USA. Coyotes were also ordered to seize assets to compensate for the damage done to the families of the victims.

According to information from the PF, two arrest warrants were authorized by Justice. One has already been met and police are trying to arrest a coyote in the Bahamas on Wednesday. Three warrants for search and seizure were made in Brazil and abroad.

The third phase of the operation is done through the Federal Police Department in Ji-Paraná (RO) and support from the Federal Police Department, Human Rights Division of the Federal Police and Interpol.

The new phase of the operation is supported by the Legal Cooperation of the Bahamas and the United States, as well as the support of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE - U.S).

How many children have been sent to the US?

The PF said Wednesday that about 30 children are taken to the United States each year by the criminal organization. About 150 adults are also sent each year to the country.

The PF did not disclose, until the publication of the report, where the children are smuggled to the United States and not even if a minor died in the crossing.

How much did the suspect charge to take the immigrants?

According to PF, the criminal organization managed by the suspect in Ji-Paraná collected about R $ 60,000 reais to transport adults and children to the American soil.

Before leaving Brazil, immigrants stayed in cities with international airports within easy reach. In the places they waited for the order of embarkation for Bahamas. This authorization happened when an immigration agent from that country facilitated the entry of Brazilians.

When arriving in the Bahamas, the immigrants waited for several days to try to make the crossing of boat and thus to enter clandestinely in the United States.

The PF, during the investigations, found that several Brazilians transported by the group died drowned when trying to cross by water. It is suspected that some of the immigrants were also murdered. A resident of Rondônia died during the crossing.

Operation Pirates of the Caribbean

At the beginning of last year the PF held the first phase of Operation Pirates of the Caribbean, in Ji-Paraná. One person was arrested on charges of participating in the criminal 'coyote' organization responsible for illegally bringing Brazilians to the United States.

At the end of 2016, a vessel with two Cuban, 12 Brazilian, five Dominican and two North American boatmen headed out to Miami, United States, on November 6, and after that there was no further information on the whereabouts of all. Among the missing were two rondonienses.

Suppression of 'zero tolerance'

At the end of June, the US government temporarily suspended zero tolerance for immigrants entering the country illegally, accompanied by children. The government says the reason is the lack of space to house families who would be detained.

Adults who enter by themselves continue to be referred to respond to criminal prosecution.

Last Tuesday (17), the Brazilian Minister of Human Rights, Gustavo Rocha, reported that there are about 40 Brazilian children separated from the families in the country through "zero tolerance." He estimates, however, that the number could reach 50, but not all children were taken to the country by coyotes.

But it's WRONG to separate the victims of child traffickers from adults!

Well, they did get to stop in the Bahamas before moving to a life of slavery and abuse in the USA.

Nice to see you defending pedophiles and slavers.

Again.

Also, you might want to read the last paragraph where Brazil separates children from the parents who would abuse or sell them.

And you'd want those parents to be reunited with their kids all because "FUCK TRUMP" right?

In what way am I defending them you dishonest idiot? All I said your article doesn’t say the kids and trafickerd are or ever were being held together in the US.

You really need help with reading comprehension, that last paragraph says there are 40-50 Brazilian children separated from their parents in USA and it says nothing about them being abused or sold by their parents that’s just another of your blatant fabrications.

By purposefully denying the evidence presented in the article that says it's happening and you turn around and insist that there's no proof.

If you'd bother to read it you'd discover that it does.

What you claim isn’t presented in the article. Full stop.

It says nothing about whether the child smugglers are being kept in the same cell as the kids. In fact all it says for certain is that when these particular smugglers took people into the US they took kids along for disguise.

Lmao what?? It doesn’t say that at all! It doesn’t mention anything about how they’re detained of if they’re detained together! Too funny.

Link says nothing about trafficking to the US or how they’re being detained in the US. Still no evidence that kids are being held in the US with their child traffickers posing as family members.
