In a taped conversation, Bush criticizes then-Vice President Al Gore for admitting to marijuana use. He says he wouldn't answer the marijuana question because he "wouldn't want some little kid doing what I tried". Would that be cocaine? Would that be drinking and driving?

I find it somewhat nobel of him to try to be a roll model for kids.

If I have kids I certainly wouldn't want them trying drugs which cause about as much or less harm than alcohol. I'd be perfectly happy if they invaded a country for no good reason and killed thousands of people. What parent wouldn't be proud of that?

   

I’m assuming that’s facetious – Bush could obviously care less about being a role model as he constantly makes references to his drinking. Apparently drinking is socially acceptable (or, at the very least, an act that doesn’t require dodging), but he clearly omits his days as the grand junkie of Texas Booger Sugar…hmm

Moreover, his references to “preparing” specific “buzz words” in anticipation of meetings with religious right representatives are the more telling component of the tapes. Perhaps, Bush’s Jesus devotion is more strategic than originally thought – or he’s a simplistic Bible-thumper that knows his core constituent extremely well.

At any rate, an interesting story.
