Pat Robertson at it Again
American American:
Bart, you're missing my point with respect to CKA.
"Flaming" is attacking someone personally on the site, such as what a certain someone did to me yesterday when I had directed no such commentary at him.
Trashing on celebrities is just discussion.
What is the saying?
"Don't hate the player, hate the game!"
Pat Robertson has said that this year's hurricane season, and other recent disasters in America (9/11) were caused because God is angry with Americans for various reasons....things like abortion, gay-marriage, etc....
He is basically saying there that Denver deserves to have a hurricane destroy it, or Denver deserves to have terrorists drive planes into it...
He is an obvious crack-pot....
just wish god would take pat a little sooner than he has planned...

Oh, you must be part of one of those PC groups who believe in tolerance and diversity.
I'll admit that Robertson could have worded it differently.
Ol Pat has so many issues he got a subscription. He went around the bend about ten years ago when he suddenly became obssessed with Revelations Theology (the end of the world) and since then he's been loopy as hell.
I'd say it was a much longer time ago than that. Say, somewhere around the time Ronald Reagan became president.
You must've been quite the scholar when you were a kid. Reagan left office when you were what? Nine or ten?
Regardless of what liberals and Democrats thought of the man, Robertson and his Christian Coalition were well respected in conservative and most GOP circles. He played a part in the 1994 GOP takeover but then went all batshit crazy with his end-of-the-world obsession. This led to him being marginalized for the 1996 elections and irrelevant by 2000. Christian Coalition suffered at the same time and has fallen by the wayside and it's only real power anymore is as a bogeyman for certain liberal groups. In the 2004 election Christian Coalition for the first time failed to print and distribute their once-powerful Voter Guide.
Robertson any more is just pitiful.

Mind you, others have taken up the Cause where the CC and Robertson left off. Dobson and Focus on the Family for one.

Hmmm. Being in the culture of the Right I can say that no one is really galvanized to act the way people were in the late eighties and early nineties. There was a time when I could make a few phone calls and get 1,000 people to show up for a rally later the same day. Or I could raise $10,000 in one day for a good cause - and not all of it just from one person.
Bush and the neo-cons have really taken the wind out of a lot of people's sails with regards to politics.
It's disappointing, really.
I fully expect the Left to win back seats in the Senate and in the House in 2006 and I fully expect a Democrat to take the White House in 2008.
Bush and the neo-cons have alienated their base and they will pay for it when these people refuse to come out and vote for them, work for them, and donate to them just because they're Republicans.
I'll vote for a Democrat if he's the more conservative, honest, or forthright candidate.
And I'm not the only one who feels this way.
hopefully thats a step in the right direction eh bart?

No, that is one definition of flaming.

I don't like it, it looks cheap. It's looks like a pumpkin.
Firstly, how come nobody bothered to declare Pat Robertson a Christian terrorist when he started calling for the death of the Venezualen President? There was no difference between his actions of trying to stir the American public to assassinate a foreign leader, overthrow a government and occupy the nation than any of the Islamic clerics have said.
Secondly, religious people are scared people. Accepting that life is a series of random (and often times unfortunate...thank you Lemony Snicket!) events is too much to handle. There is no way to "protect" oneself from a cosmic roll of the dice. But, by believing in a divine creator, a father figure, one can feel "protected" and insulated against evils loose in the world. Apparently, Christian terrorist Pat Robertson believes that adhering to rules preached from thousands of years in the past, he will be protected against evil, or ruin or whatever it is that scares the believer.
Thus, he is one scary motherfucker. And yes, if the FBI really IS Big Brothering the internet, watch Pat Robertson instead!
American,
If you don't like the flamer medal, may I suggest not throwing insults at the guy who owns the site and then trying to rat him out to other moderators. It may not erase your medal, but it may prevent future ones.
