Maybe. In the meantime however, I am not presented with an argument for why an African-American or a woman or a Native American deserves credit for more than they have done, any more than I am. However I do see these people getting more credit than they are due, and reaping benefits of a system that has never harmed them in the first place.

Since that is the case, my vote will continually be for equality, and thus the elimination of Affirmative Action.

Reverse discrimination is alive and well and is very prolific. I have seen it in action on more than one occasion. An American white male has the least rights out of any group. Unless you have lived in an area with a high percentage of minorities added together with affermitive action, you would not understand fully. Employment or enrollment "diversification" is another way of sugar-coating the term "reverse discrimination".

One day we'll all get along just fine and Race/Sex/Other won't be a determining factor in how we function. Until that day, some form of Affirmative Action will be necessary.

There will always be some idiot whining about how only X% of profession Y is comprised of members of identifiable group Z.

The sociological conditions which determine whether someone even wants to pursue a career in profession Y start at a very young age. Telling an employer to hire X% of group Z for profession Y is positions isn't reality based and is counterproductive.

If Obama's victory makes visible minority types feel more optimistic about how far they can go in life, then more of them will attempt to go farther in life, and that right there is 80% of the battle, and accomplishes more than any amount of affirmative action ever will.

All affirmative action accomplishes is to perpetuate the myth that the white man is out to keep everyone else down.
