Thanos Thanos:
Just when you think they can't fall any lower into depravity, the Tea Party Mammon-worshiping GOP manages to sink to a new depth, placing their hopes on a convicted criminal who killed twenty-nine of his own mine workers:

https://thinkprogress.org/national-repu ... 4f9c57817/

$1:
Former coal baron Don Blankenship is now in a dead heat in the GOP’s West Virginia Senate primary — even though he’s still on probation after serving one year in federal prison for conspiring to violate mine safety standards.

A poll conducted for the Senate campaign of Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R-WV) in advance of the May 8 primary put Morrisey and Blankenship in a statistical tie, with Rep. Evan Jenkins (R-WV) several points behind. The winner will probably face Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) in November, who is widely seen as vulnerable in a state President Trump won in 2016 by 40 percent.

But as Politico reported Tuesday morning, “National Republicans — on the heels of the Roy Moore and Rick Saccone debacles — worry they’re staring down their latest potential midterm election fiasco.”

Blankenship is the former CEO of Massey Energy and has been a major figure in state politics for decades, helping turn West Virginia from solid blue to deep red in recent years with $200,000 in donations to GOP candidates and party committees. But his candidacy was originally viewed with some skepticism when he first announced he was running in November.

After all, Blankenship had recently finished a one-year sentence in federal prison for ignoring federal mine safety regulations in the lead up to the 2010 tragedy in Massey’s Upper Big Branch, which killed 29 miners, making it the worst coal mining disaster in decades.

Indeed, one post-disaster profile of Blankenship called him “the Snidely Whiplash of coal, a larger-than-life figure so swaggering and creepy that his each next outrageous claim as chairman and C.E.O. of Massey Energy makes wonderful copy.”

But Blankenship is wealthy enough to self-finance, and has so far outspent both his rivals on TV ads by 30-to-1. In one ad, he slams Jenkins — who had been a Democrat House member before switching parties in 2013 — for supporting the 2009 House climate bill rather than Trump’s position that climate change is a hoax.

While the New York Times reported last month that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he did not want to see Blankenship win the nomination, the national party hasn’t decided yet whether they will formally oppose him, as they did Roy Moore in Alabama.

But they will need to make up their minds soon. The primary is only seven weeks away.

I can easily see Trump on a stage somewhere with Blankenship in front of a rally - "America needs more Donny Blankenships, he makes a lot of money, which is just great, isn't that terrific!".

Hey it looks like President Trump is telling people in W.V. to NOT vote for Blankenship. It looks like someone on here owes an apology to President Trump.

It’s fitting. A terrorist organization hiring a traitor to be their president.

Who’s next? The ghost of Benedict Arnold?

Calling the NRA a terrorist organization is libel. You do not know jack shit about the NRA, do you? I have been shooting at NRA events since I was a child. They came around to my Boy Scout meetings (free of charge) to teach gun safety and hunter safety courses long before they were mandated by law. I have never shot or killed anyone. I sent my daughter to NRA gun safety classes to learn gun safety and to learn how to shoot. She received expert training in rifles, shotguns, and handguns. She received her permit to carry concealed through these classes. I sleep safer knowing that my 22 year old daughter is packing heat as she travels through this world full of creeps, sickos, and perverts. The left likes to pretend that they care about the "me too" movement (although the vast, vast, majority of the offenders are themselves in the left wing). I feel good knowing that my daughter will be putting someone's dick in the dirt if they start any shit with her. There will be no court cases of "he said she said", only coroners inquests.

Why don't you do a little research into what you ate talking about first? How many of all these mass shootings in the states of late have been committed by NRA members? Zero, that is how many.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter ... shootings/
The NRA is made up of law abiding citizens who own firearms for sport and safety. We do not wish to have our rights trampled by a bunch of pussies that have not ever even held a firearm, let alone fired one. If certain segments of our population wish to depend on the cowardly pussies that hid outside a school during a mass shooting, or the incompetent government hacks that have dropped the ball too many times to count lately when they had the power and legal authority to prevent a tragedy to keep them safe.....fuck them. Ben said it best. They deserve neither liberty or safety.

Criticizing North, Trump and or the NRA is not libel.

I say again: Traitor, traitor, terrorist organization.

Sure she can. As long as she keeps her yap shut she'll be fine.

FYI, I once had a bunch of paperwork to deliver several custom rifles to a police department in Canada and when I went to cross the border I expected to stop and the guard just swiped my passport, handed it back, and told me to have a good day.

Saved me at least an hour getting all the paperwork and gear checked at the Sumas-Abbotsford crossing. [flag]

Killer Don Blankenship lost in the WVa primary. Who would have guessed that being a mass-murderer of his own employees would be what it finally took for MAGA to not support him:

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/05/don-bl ... na-family/

Disgrace of the human race factor still applies for a lot of voters tonight though - somehow almost 19000 people still voted for him anyway, knowing fully that he's a sociopath with absolute contempt for human life and apparently it doesn't bother them at all. :|

Man, you've just got to be a Yank. There are major cultural differences between us.

I apologize for taking so long to respond to your post. Yes I am a Yank and yes there are major cultural differences between us. I lived in Canada for several years in the mid to late 80's. To this day they are some of my fondest memories of my time on this planet. You can research my earliest posts on this forum where I speak about how good, and honest the people in New Brunswick were. I told the story about how I left an open tool box on my jeep overnight as it would not start, and I was in a hurry to catch a ride back home. The next day my open tool box was still there with all the tools were in place. Yes, I thought that was remarkable. I wrote about how some of the best and most honest mechanics resided there. I wrote about how some of the best trout fishing in the world was there. You will not see me making any negative posts about the area. I loved it then, and I love it now. I wanted to spend the rest of my life there. I got out of the service with the plan to stay there. Unfortunately the job market in the Maritimes is not the best. Most of the work is seasonal. Logging, fishing, potato harvesting, are the major enterprises, and they are not year round. Financially I was forced to move. I am not alone in that regard. A lot of your poor cousins in the Maritimes are forced to relocate to other areas to find work as well. I am not to blame for the poor job market in the Maritimes any more than the good people who reside there now are. We (the people who left) would all still be there if we could.

Likewise I am not to blame for the out of control crime and utter madness of the area where I now reside. I did not start the fire. I am not from the area that I currently reside in. I came here so my daughter who was in the third grade could spend some time with her dying grandfather. I got a divorce here and was not allowed to leave the state per the divorce decree. It happens. People get stuck in places they do not want to be sometimes in life. Did you like every place that the navy sent you? Did they pretend to care if you did not? I loved living in New Brunswick, but I did not have an NHL team in the western conference championship there. The Rolling Stones and the Who did not come around on tour. Life is full of trade offs. If I could make half of what I make now in New Brunswick, I would be there in a heartbeat. Ask any Newfie where they would rather be. I am not happy about the out of control violence where I live now, but what am I (one man in all this madness) supposed to do about it? I look after my own. That is all I can do. You want to paint all Americans with the same brush for the maddness that is going on in the country......well that is your prerogative. I will not attempt to change your mind. All I will say that the U.S. is full of good decent people who do care. They are not to blame for all the gang banging thugs and criminals anymore than you are to blame for all the pockets of economic disparity like the Maritimes and the First Nations reservations. Again I apologize for taking so long to respond. Good day to you sir.
