US Senate OK's drilling for oil in Alaskan Wildlife Refuge

Don't talk rot warhawk. Hybrid cars are way more efficient than regular cars.
While that may be true, the price tag is also more...

A lamentable reality. Why is it you can get a major tax deduction in the Us for buying a Hummer, but not for a hybrid car? (this is a rhetoical quetions by the way)
The automakers have little choice on the pricing of those hybrids. If they were to make those things cheap everyone would want one.
The automakers make a lot more on SUVs...they are basically pick-up trucks. No R&D...trucks never realy change and they get things like ABS a couple generations after cars do, so that cost has already been covered. They are cheap to build and the automakers charge a premium for them.
The ANWR, by most estimates, has enough oil to supply the US for 6-12 months. The drilling and pipeline sites will be smack in the middle of the caribou calving grounds. That will upset not just calving, but migration patterns. Since the ecosystem is interconnected, if you upset the caribou, you upset the ecosystem.

I don't think a lot of you realize just how centered your life is around oil. I mean it is easy to denounce these practices but could you imagine if, say, the oil supply ran out tomorrow? Utter chaos. How could you live without oil? As an example, I live on Vancouver Island and most of our things are brought in from the mainland via ferries, ships, and planes. I don't even think we could survive a week without oil. The hypocrisy in the left is amazing, the same people who tote "NO BLOOD FOR OIL" signs depend on oil for their livelihood. Simply amazing.
Just curious Warhawker what sort of vehicle do you own?
I don't own any vehicle.

It's Alaska. The middle of nowhere. Nobody lives there, nobody wants to live there, and most Americans will never visit. Those who do visit won't stay long, because it's -10 degrees in the middle of July.
So... WHO CARES?
P.S. Santa Claus isn't for real, so if the caribou die nobody will notice.

Yep! And before any of you say "OH BUT WARHAWK! THAT'S ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO POOR DEFENCELESS LITTLE CRITTERS?!?!" I'd advice you to read up on Darwin’s theory of evolution and survival of the fittest.

Should be worth about $500.00/day working on the line. More than enough to pay for all those social programs......hell,someone has to pay for them.
The wankers seem to like sitting around waiting for the cheques to come in.
This will be a good thing for them as they can collect their cash and continue to live off it while fighting the very people that are providing that easy money for them.

actually i think it is a 2000 dollar wright off for using an alternative fuel source.
ANWR has at least an estimated 9 billion barrells of oil (could be more).
Max pumping projected at 1 million per day. Easy math, 365 million per year, roughly 24 years of production......at least.

The drilling will be in calving grounds? Give me a break. That kind of talk is from someone who hasnt been off there fat ass or never broke away from their computer. The Caribou will calve wherever they think its safe. I've been to the Yukon and NWT and the land is so big that anyone that tells you your hurting migrations should take a fly up there and then a flying fuck as they realize they dont have a clue about what their supporting or talking aboot.
Unreal!
